Scotty Cameron Custom Shop Question

Thinking about buying and older Scotty (that hasn’t been messed with) and sending it to the custom shop for a full refinish and shaft replacement.

 

My question — How bad of condition can a putter be for them to restore it correctly?

Depending on the putter they only have silver and black finishes according to their site. If you get an oil can or black oxide one you're better off sending it elsewhere.

The cost of the custom shop just makes it so expensive you are better off buying a good shape putter and painting yourself or sending to BOS (who did the original TEI3 finish for Cameron) for a refinish sub $125.

100% agree with BOS unless you somehow end up with a great deal on a non-OTR putter. I am still gaming my Hollywood that I sent to BOS back in 2018 and their black oxide finish has held up really well. Have friends who have gotten their aquamarine and fools gold finishes as well, and they all look great. Would love to find a TEI Santa Fe and send it into them...

I have a 1996 TEI Santa Fe that I just got for a great deal, may try them out. Any recommendation on specific finish, or just restore to original?

Also, do you think he could do good work with a Classic 1.5? Thinking about picking one up, maybe..

I have both Black Oxide and Aquamarine finishes from BOS Golf. And an Oil Can finish on a Wilson 8813. Like them all. I have a post about Studio Design 2. I'm expecting it to look like new when get it back.
