Recommended Posts

Afternoon All,
I am in need of some serious help, I have uploaded 2 x videos to assist with whats happening, I seem to be move my wrist away from my body at take away which is causing me to come back down without correction and causing alot of shanks etc
To myself it seems i am bowing my left wrist which seems to be causing alot of it and i dont know what to do to get round this to stop it happening
Any help would be great
Thanks in advance

You immediately get closer to the golf ball, which is generally going to move your hands and the shaft and thus the hosel closer to the ball.

As you posted the same thing in multiple places, I answered elsewhere.

But basically: more rotation, less hands, stay tall.

More rotation, less hands, first one just dragging the hands and body is still.

See Monte’s Use The Bounce and short game vids. And for fun, watch this and see if anything resonates - it’s really good, IMO. Also, Peter Finch did a lengthy vid with Fredrik Lindblom with short and medium length pitches that also gets into engaging the bounce and getting away from the bowed left wrist, present the leading edge stuff. Finch was always similar to what you do (yet better, of course, and with rotation) and it was an eye opener for him.

I'm not going to give any mechanical swing advice, because I'm not knowledgeable enough to do so.

Instead, I'm going to suggest a little game to try. Get some foot spray powder or a dry erase marker and cover the face of your club with the powder/ink. The game is this: try to intentionally make shots where the ball leaves an imprint as far out on the toe as possible. (heck, even some toe side shanks are ok for this game) Then try to do the opposite - try to hit shots that are as close as possible to the hosel as possible without shanking. Then go for the middle. Rinse, lather repeat.

Next, on successive shots, give yourself a goal (toe, center or heel) and try to hit those shots on demand.

Then you can play variations - 5 shots in a row out of the toe, 5 shots out of the heel, 5 shots out of the middle. Etc... Ultimately, of course, the middle shots are what you're mainly after, but learning where the limits are can be pretty instructional.

Don't focus so much on what the ball is doing at this point, just focus on where the ball is leaving a mark on the powder/ink.

The goal here is to teach your hands how to control the clubface to deliver it to the right spot.

What do you recommend i try to help solve this issue?

I say focus on balance. @iacas with the stay tall is a great thought.

But your head immediately gets closer to ball and your getting on your toes. Get more balanced at setup and don't allow yourself to fall towards your toes in the swing.

This.  Chest goes down immediately and the right hip doesn’t move in the backswing.  That pushes your hands out.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

It's almost all upper body error on your end.    Your club is finishing WAY too high for that length chip because you're not using your feet and legs hardly at all.  Watch this, says it all pretty much.  Take the hands out, listen to Jackie, he knows.

Early in hand photos of the new GT2 models t the truck.  As soon as they show up on the range in player's bags we'll get some better from the top photos and hopefully some comparison photos against the last model.
