The way I see this is that the issue is in the air. People do not know whether it was a breach or not and that is not the perfect situation.

Once again Mr. Bean, read.  "If he broke the rule and there is educational value in knowing then there it is."  That's what is being discussed.

 

As for Stricker specifically, I didn't say it was unimportant for him to know, I'm saying it's nothing that needs called for here or anywhere else.  I'm happy to assume he knew what he was doing and within the rules and that it's pointless for anyone to claim they definitely knew what was going through his mind when he put the club down, because they don't.

 

And based on the above he may decide it is now important to know, lol.

I'm with antip, were I the referee on the scene, I would ask what his intention was.

That would be a very bad look for golf if players were not allowed to try to improve their technique during play.

Using an aid for the current stroke is different IMO.

The observation he was checking his alignment may or may not be accurate, only Stricker knows and it’s over with. 

It's not over and done with in a tournament that is continuing.
