Now then,

Recently bought a Garmin R10 for trying to dial in my game when the range isn't an option, looking at getting a net for the garden as a result. The only thing that is bothering me somewhat is using a normal ball while smashing a driver towards my own house ( this is more of a lack of trust in nets, too many fail videos on Instagram and I don't want to spend a month's wage on the most expensive net going) so I was considering getting some 30% balls. I understand ball data won't be really accurate but for the simulation of hitting a real ball my club data should be the same? Has anyone used similar balls?

Couple thoughts.

1) Nets are not too expensive, I got 2 on the bay for like $20 each they are 1/2" holes so they are much smaller to make sure a ball doesn't penetrate through.  I doubled up on them just incase.

similar one but much smaller but you get the point, I only needed 96"x96" and bought 2 for extra strength

 

2) I went on Amazon as well and bought a canvas drop cloth, for like $11, 10oz.  I put this right behind the net. This hangs from the top down freely to absorb the impact.

I used this before I built my actual sim,  I have the same net and drop cloth but I also have the impact screen in front now for projection.  I only have 12inches from the wall and have yet to have a penetration so its working just fine.  I really think the heavy canvas drop cloth actually takes the most of the brunt so that was the winner for me.

I bought a portable sports net off amazon and then reinforced it with a double net (hung with zip tie's).  I've got this against the side of my garage.  Would be very hesitant to hit back into my house.

Bigger issue for me was flying wedges or short irons over it if I didn’t get the hitting mat real close. I also added a shank net after I sent a drive over the fence. Scared the 💩 out of me. I kept waiting to hear glass break, but I never heard the ball hit anything, not even a house. Got lucky, I guess.

if you get a net thats 12feet wide and 10ft tall you can use driver from 15 feet away normal golf balls you can find 12 by 10 nets for under 200 on amazon

The problem with PLM like the R10 is: the longer the ball flight, the more accurate the results. But if the net or the indoor space is not wide or tall enough, you get troubles with shanks and other ugly shots. I would not play sim golf in my garden, no way. To much room for troubleshooting and angry neighbors 

i use my garage and accept the minimum Ball flight and a limited accuracy in the sim result’s
