2023 Titleist T150 vs 2023 TM P790 - Anyone have a comparison?

Title says it.  
Who has it both and anyone have thoughts on which they are going with?

Coming from the Callaway Apex TCB and looking to get some new irons with my shop credit.  Trying to find a place that has both to hit first but thought I go to my go to, GolfWRX, for some thoughts.

Sounds like the 770 is more comparable to the T150. 790 should be bigger, have stronger lofts, more distance, and have more offset than the T150.

Yes, agree with 055. 790 is going to be in between T200 and the current T300. Stealth is more toward T300/T350 in my opinion. But the new P790 looks really good. Dang it!

I was surprised by the look, makes me interested in trying.  

The biggest thing that I have heard is the sound is not as clicky as the previous model, which I hated when I tried.

I’ve hit both, sound much better with the 150’s if that is important to you.  Forgiveness nod to the 790’s but not a huge difference to be honest. Both look great in the bag. Not sure how much you spin it, but the 790’s are a bit low for me.

These are super different clubs....I haven't hit the new P790s but i hit both prior gens. The feel will likely be completely different given the hollow/goo filled vs Forged CB. 

 

As was posted the T200 are probably more like P790

 

If you're a +2 and looking at T150 the P7MC would probably be most similar, though slightly smaller than the 150s.

I tested on Trackman with a 6 iron set up with the exact same shaft and swing weight. I did not adjust the stock lofts.

 

6 iron 23' P790 vs T150 (Averages)

 

Same club speed 84.6/P790 and 84.7 T150 (.1 mph diff)

Ball Speed +4.2 mph for P790

Launch was the same (.0 Deg diff again)

Height was higher w/ the P790's by 8ft

Spin was +200 Rpm more w/ the T150's

Landing angle 1* more w/ the P790 @ 43.7 deg

Carry 9 yards farther w/ the P790 186yds vs T150 177yds

Total 9 yards farther w/ the P790 199yds vs T150 190yds

Lots of opinions on this thread here 🙂

 

T150 is most comparable to current p770 as both irons are cbs with tech and help with speed, launch, and spin particularly in 7 iron and higher.  Both have relatively strong players lofts (p770 is 33 for 7, t150 is a degree stronger at 32). If you have club head speed above 88-90 mph these are going to fly quite far compared to a tcb.

 

tcb is going to be more similar to t100, 620 cb, and p7mc.  34-35 degrees loft and not tech other than some tungsten in longer irons.  Similar playability.  I don’t think they compare well to the t150 or p770.

 

p790 is like the t200, hollow body and stong lofted.  Both current gens spin considerably more than early versions.  T200 has a longer blade length and wider sole.

HI, interested in your numbers as looking at both clubs.  P790 us 26.5 loft and the T150 28, doesnt account for 9 yards but brings them fairly close.  Interesing that the t150 launched higher in comparison to the loft with more spin.

If it matters. I had the t150’s and loved them, I tried the new p770’s and just liked them better. Both amazing clubs.. I think that it may come down to a little ball speed and turf interaction.. FOR ME… could swing a little easier with the p770’s and get the same results as the t150’s. Both are beyond amazing clubs though. Personal preference, just my .2c

I have both sets. The 790s have the DG onyx 105 s300 shafts. These irons are hot and carry almost a club longer than the T150s. They look great at address and are easy to hit. My only complaint is the occasional heater that goes 20yds longer than expected. The T150s have the Project X LV 6.5 shafts. These are the best irons I have hit. The shaft/head combo just works. If you are mid/low index player then the 150s are the irons you want. If you are mid/high then get the 790s...but you really cant go wrong with either.
