Is the V the Z without the wings? Can’t tell the difference visually, but only Z says something about forward cg, I would assume the V is too with no weights in the back

Tour X is one of the few mallets that I have liked in my testing over the years. I still stick with blade putters but if I was to get a mallet, it would be this one. Glad they brought it back.

The custom options on the Tour X are solid. Includes plumbers neck and aluminum or surlyn inserts. Does anyone know what the difference would be between the inserts?

Did the last Tour have an Aluminium face?

The Surlyn one says it's an Aluminum blend, so technically both have Aluminum in them, but I dunno

Difference in feel is my main curiosity, because I didn't like the feel of the face on my Tour, that's why I swapped it for a Phantom X7 and picked an Oddysey over another tour when I switched putters again.

The Spider Tour S is a larger version of the original Spider. The putter head is 3 mm longer and 8 mm wider in comparison. Spider Tour S is constructed at a heavier head weight and only offered at 35-inch and 38-inch lengths, with both featuring counterbalance grips for maximum stability.

 

Spider Tour S has a CG location of 38 mm from the face, 6,063 MOI and is face balanced. It will be available in Spring of 2024.

I think the all black model had an aluminum insert, all the others had the surlyn. I may not be exact on that, but between the black and red models, the black was firmer and had more metal in the insert.

I think I'll have to feel the faces in person to see, but I've been to the golf shop twice and forgot to see if they even have any *facepalm*

So the standard one is the same face as the prior spider X, and what they're saying about the paint sounds promising too! I know someone else mentioned that as a concern as well.

Oh so the counter balance one won’t be available until the spring? That kinda sucks.

I remember something about Jason Day and Dustin Johnson using different inserts, and the black one had a firmer feel. Not sure if it was all aluminum or an 80/20 mix or what, but it was a noticeable difference compared to the usual plastic one.

So after doing a bit more reading on the faces, I think the one I had was the firmer feeling insert.

So because I'm enjoying the softer feel of the Oddysey at the minute, I think the Surlyn one might be the better option. But yeah, really need to try them out first.

Nearly bought a Jailbird today, scalpers bought the last of them it seems...

 

Anyway, was wondering, the Spider S is basically TMs answer to that right? 38 inches and counterbalanced, I never even thought of that before tbh.

 

Also tempted to order a MySpider to make it look a bit like the older one, but it wouldn't get here before end of season in Canada anyways, so now I'm thinking of waiting for January and ordering the Spider S.

Me too. Nothing new here. I feel like  everyone got upstaged by PXG’s hollow body putters. Really the only thing new worth noting. That and everyone rediscovering the jailbird.

The paradym blue on the bottom was maybe a bit of a questionable choice. But over all I think they look good..

Has anyone gamed the Tour Z yet? Thoughts? I keep seeing how the front weights make it "feel like a blade" but I don't know how much I believe that.

I'm using the Z. Love it! Does it feel more blade like? Regarding weight yes. Also feels more solid than a blade because of the mass. Good for that slight forward press.

 

My putter fittings has me best in blade style putters (but I prefer mallets). Z satisfies this perfectly. The V less so for me for some reason.
