What the heck is inside my putter shaft

Pulled the head to send out for refinishing, cleaned up the shaft, and I cannot figure this one out. 
 

Swag handsome too from 2018 and should be a kbs shaft… but had a Cameron pistolini grip on it.  No rattling at all when using it for the month or so I had it. 
 

If it makes any difference, it would sit inside your lower hand. 
 

thoughts? Is this a thing that tinkers do?

Looks like maybe a counterweight that dropped?

Could be, it looks like a bearing and the inner part is not recessed for a wrench to tighten.

Pretty normal. I didn’t put it on the swingweight scale, shaft weighs 134grams. 
 

I putted well with it, so not going to try jack with to find out. I was hoping someone might know if it’s a legit intention stuck in there or not.

I’m not aware of their putter being counterbalanced. It sounds like this was bought second-hand, so yeah, this was likely from a tinkerer looking to counterweight the putter (possibly bc the original owner using a lighter grip - assuming it was standard pistolini and not the ‘plus’ version). Counterweight likely fell down the shaft, or was intentionally pushed down for some odd reason..

And, afaik, 134g is a lot heavier than normal for kbs ct tour shaft - last i remember they’re only like 124g pre-cut. Probably got a 20-30g weight stuck in there

At least u can always just buy a new KBS shaft without breaking the bank

Bingo!  Its the past owners spare battery for the range finder.  Always tough finding the right place to put the backup battery.

It looks like a lead tip weight for a graphite shaft, but it's tough to tell.
