Tall Player, Over Standard Irons and EE

So understanding this is a nuanced conversation and there's only so much that can be determined by static measurements, but for arguments sake. Say you have a player that's 6'3" 38.5" wrist to floor measurement that by Ping measurements lets say statically fits into 2 up +.5". But because of movement patterns, mobility, swing mechanics, what have you. This player actually should be playing standard length irons. Now lets say they struggle with EE. Would having longer irons, potentially just make the EE worse??

Ping chart is a starting point for fitting, that’s all. The proper fitting process often ends up with different specs based on individual swing characteristics.

Quite possibly, obviously other factors in play to be considered, such as increased SW due to the longer club if SW not adjusted.

That's something that should be tested, the Ping Chart is a good starting point but I wouldn't just rely on that for a "fitting".

That can be a bit of a fallacy because that would mean you already EE more with your 7 iron than your 8, and your 6 more than your 7…..and so on. It’s kind of like when someone asks me if going longer will get rid of their toe strike….they hit every club on the toe regardless of length.

Was just about to sat that, spot on.

Swing weight difference from going longer is going to be way more significant, 0.5 inch is about 4 swing weight points.

It can make it worse but it's generally not the root cause of the problem.

The Ping chart is not accurate and I don't even think it should be on their website anymore. We know so much more now thanks to technology. It's like trying to tell someone how they will aim a specific putter without actually fitting them. It's a guess and nothing more.
