Lynx Liberty '76

I have restored a set of Lynx Liberty '76 clubs 2-PW and quite honestly really enjoy playing them over my Mizuno Pro 221s. My question is does anyone know anything about them like the lofts, I know i can go get the measured by my golf smith but would like to know more about the actual clubs if anyone as any information on them.

In 1978 and 1979 I played my best golf with the Lynx Liberty Bell irons and some Spaulding persimmon driver and fairway woods.

 

I suspect that the 7-iron was 36* as the set came out in 1976, but it could be even more lofted.  I bought a 7-iron recently from eBay because, well, just because.  I'll measure the loft this week.

Here is a few pictures of the irons. Like I said last few rounds with them I shot a 81 and 78 at my home course.

I remember Lynx irons from around that time.  Lots of people had them. Minus the Liberty bell, I think they are a good looking iron.

      I have a set of these that are very similar, great hitting irons in my opinion. Really have a good feel to them.

I already have this is what I got from them. But this was the US email I sent to maybe I should contact the UK email you provided. Thanks

Thanks for reaching out.  Regrettably, I have no info on these clubs as they are approaching 50 years old.  I started calling on Lynx in 1977 when I was with True Temper...I remember the model well.  The best way to find out what you've got is to get the lofts and lies measured by your local club repair professional.  Lynx ownership has changed hands numerous times over the past 50 years, wish I could be of more help.

So I went ahead and took my '76's to my golf smith, and had him measure them out and went ahead and adjusted them a bit so as of now they sit at

4-26

5-29.5

6-33

7-37

8-42

9-46

PW-50

SW-56

 

I know that those are not traditional lofts for them but tried to get them as close to modern lofts as possible, hence the 29.5 on the 5I and not a 30 that was all we could get it to lol. Haven't had a chance to hit them now that I have adjusted them yet but looking forward to taking them out.

I’m curious; what were the lofts before you had them adjusted to above ?

So roughly about 2-2.5 club lengths short of modern club lofts before.

Funny, I think the Liberty Bells look sweet in his in-the-bag photo. I like the clean lines and what almost looks like a proto-perimeter weighting towards the sole.
