Have an Unlocked Bushnell Launch Pro, need help jumping through hoops as a filthy Apple user.

I recently unlocked my Bushnell Launch Pro, and for now I have an M1 Macbook Air, but I can't merit buying an iPad or Gaming Laptop just to run the FSX suite of softwares.

Luckily, FSX Pro runs on my Air just fine, but the issue is FSX 2020 and FSX Play. Those two require 64bit windows with Nvidia graphics cards to run Unity based programs, so obviously I need to jump through some hoops.

I've heard good things about Parallels and Crossover, but a buddy of mine says "Crossover is just a paid, packaged version of Wine", and had a couple other choice words about Parallels that I ought not to repeat here. We'll pretend to ignore his extreme distaste for my choice in hardware.

 

Any ideas that would prevent me from having to buy an entire new Windows gaming rig? My pocketbook is looking a bit haggard after unlocking my BLP, so before you make the cheeky response "sell the Air and buy a real laptop", the numbers don't add up. Doing so would cost much more money than jumping through a couple hoops to make FSX 2020 and FSX Play work on my existing laptop.

 

Bonus points for getting Palworld to work while you're at it.

IMO, your friends opinion on parallels, is like a Dallas Cowboy's fans opinion on the Eagles. No matter how good a team the Eagles are, he won't have good things to say.

I would say use parallels if it gets you what you want. Have you tried Apples Boot Camp Assistant, which is free in the MacOS.

Bootcamp is not supported on Apple's M series chips. I've never tried parallels, myself, so I haven't been able to form my own opinion on it. Tax season is here, maybe I'll spend my return on something nice? An Asus ROG Flow X16 seems like it would solve all my problems, if I can justify shelling out the coin for it. Been a long night.

Been using unix for decades, MacOS user, despise windowz. If I could get it working *well*, I would. But one can't. The issue is the graphics drivers: you don't need CPUs or RAM really, its all about the GPU and virt drivers are always going to be a compromise. 

 

So, I have a Nvidia gaming PC for my Sim....if you are gonna invest in the LM and such, just get a proper peecee. I look at it as an extension of the LM 🙂

On my older macbook pro with a high end graphics card bootcamp would run the Foresight software.  But parallels would run choppy and crash.  The overhead for running a Pc sim was too much?

 

To run FSXpro I had to "give up" and buy a new iPad to get the driving range with the GC3

I did, and the buttons in the corners of the screen were obscured by the curved corners of the display, so that was a no go. I've basically come to the conclusion that I'm going to need an iPad to run FSX Pro out and about, and if I want to run FSX Play, FSX 2020, or FSX Pro Studio, then I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get a gaming pc with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 or better. AMD GPU's won't run Unity programs, which is what FSX is based on.

It sucks, I hate Windows, but there's really no choice for me but to eventually switch. Thankfully having FSX Pro on the iPad will help delay that inevitability.

Pretty much. I run a Legion 5i laptop for FSX apps and Awesome Golf on the projector. Only pc in the house really.
