Japanese Proxy services

Recommended Posts

I have been using buyee for the past few months. Quick turnaround times and an inexpensive service fee. They have a golf shop partner, Daichii Golf Shop that you can order Miura Craftsmen through.

I ordered Epon clubs through them. Way less expensive than ordering through a U.S. dealer and I didn't have a customs fee when shipped here.

I just checked and they don't do that any more 😞

Ive been poking around buyee to maybe pick up some Kuros. My fear is I cant estimate what shipping will be so I don't want to end up with a hundred dollar fee to ship a set of clubs here.

Anyone know the average it is to get a set sent here?

Shipping ain't cheap. Usually around $60-100

Its not about affording it or not. Its about knowing if I'm getting a better deal going through buyee or just ordering them off of Ebay. There are many Japan Ebay sellers that are basically acting as proxy services themselves and just post stuff from yahoo japan auctions and build the shipping fees into the price.

Ive found the listings on yahoo japan auctions of the clubs they are selling a few times. Some sets there is about a hundred dollar difference between what they are going for on yahoo japan auctions and Ebay, some are more. There are also more sets on Yahoo or even yahoo shopping japan because lot of the shops post there too. So having an idea of what shipping is going to cost helps to know if its worth going through the hassle of using buyee or just getting it from someone on Ebay sometimes.

It all depends how it's packed when it arrives at the warehouse from the seller. For example I just shipped a set of irons 5-P for $55. At the same time I bought two single irons and that package cost me $87 to send to me. Go figure...

If you're worried about extra $100 then probably look elsewhere where they give you shipping to your location up front.

I used Buyee a couple months ago and the cost to ship a 5-Pw set to me in the DC area was $109 including insurance and didn't need to do anything with customs. Literally the best wrapping job I have ever seen- you could have dropped a car on the box and they probably would have been fine.

To your point about the eBay sellers, a lot of them have very high shipping costs on those auctions, so be on the lookout

Yea, I hate buyee for that. Rakuten won't put it in an oversized box, but they will wrap cardboard around the box to make it stronger (and heavier = $$$ on shipping). It is what it is though when dealing with those places.

It was a slightly thicker (and sure heavier duty) cardboard than you would typically see, but just an ENORMOUS amount of bubble wrap. And if I'm being honest, I'm totally fine with that. Happy to pay the extra money for the increased weight of shipping materials

yahoo auction clubs are always better than advertised. ebay is the opposite. that’s why ebay isn’t popular in japan.

no one is trying to jack up prices with packaging weight. you have to suspend your natural western bias that you’re going to get screwed. it’ll be packed so there won’t be damage.

rakuten sellers have to pay the equivalent of $6,000 just to be sellers and they’re thoroughly vetted.

in all my decades of using yahoo auction in japan, i never had a product that wasn’t as or better than advertised and never had damage in shipment. That’s my experience. from musical instruments to golf clubs.

I would thoroughly agree with this. Have been positively surprised more than a few times when buying clubs from Yahoo auction

How long does Jauce take to package your items once you order shipment?

I tried it for the first time because Buyee wouldn't let me bid on something. Everything went smoothly until I ordered shipment and it's been quiet since. Are you supposed to get expedited shipping to get these in a timely manner?! I didn't check that option thinking it would ship in a day or two like all other proxy services I've used.

For me Mercari + Buyee has easily been the best channel.     Jauce horrible...  Rakuten Global so so...

Buyee is fine but for some reason they block certain auctions with no explanation.

I wanted to buy some cheap Taylormade's TP Forged and have them refurbished. Couldn't bid on buyee and jauce was fine. I finally got them on Friday. No issues, just took longer to ship them from their warehouse.

If you email support/chat and explain what item you're looking to purchase and why, you can get items unblocked. I've had to do this before and I think their keywords are too aggressive in blocking items, especially for golf.

I've seen before where they put a message up saying if I'd like to bid to contact support... except they refused to do anything. So annoying.

I'd rather just use a different service.

That sucks, I haven't had a bad experience yet but it sounds like it might come down the line.

I did get burned on a Scotty last year on yahoo auction, it was fake, and honestly I am to blame.

Other than that, my experience over 15 years buying off yahoo auction is amazing and you nailed it.  Always get better than I expect and they almost always under promise and over deliver in description.

The unfortunate reality is some of the fake stuff from Aliexpress etc has made its way to YaJ... and also ebay...and to a lesser extent, here.... I tend to stay away from retail names like Scotty, TM, etc so less of a risk for me.
