Lab Broomstick Mafia

Different question, as I am going to order a broom in the DF3 (once available). Love my DF 2.1 and what it has done for my game. But I still get a little "twitchy" at times. Dont get along with armlocking and now there is the big question:

How do I figure out, wether I am a Langer-style broomer (longer shaft, more upright stance, use right hand to move putter) or a Adam Scott-style broomer (shorter shaft, more bend over, rocking the shoulders to move putter) or something in between?

When using 3wood, driver and hybrid to get a feel for it, both versions feel as if I could make them work.

Decisions, decisions...

I have had my 46” DF 2.1 going to two years maybe. I started Langer style and made EVERYTHING. Then started messing around Scott style. I could not get used to that right hand on the club like that or my right arm hanging down and straight that Scott. So I sent mine back to be cut down to 44” so I could get more comfortable Scott style. It’s really has not paid off for me. I posted in another thread that I haven been demoing a 46” DF 2.1 at PGA SS and it feels more comfortable for me to stand up taller and a touch more right hand involved. I do grip it almost conventionally with my right hand. I know this does not help, but just sharing what I have gone through with my broom so far.

I can say this is the longest I have ever owned a putter and will not be changing…. Other than sending it back for an Accra shaft and extending it back to 46”. LAB is the real deal.

Of those who did the LAB online fitting for the broom, did you already have a broom putter to do the fitting with? Wanting to buy a $1K putter and not having anything to get fitted to is nerve wracking. Especially because the closest place for me to get fitted in a club champion over 3 hours away.

I did the online fitting. It's pretty slick. I saw a thing where Lab said if you can't make it to their HQ just do the online fitting. They have been fitting tour pros based the online fitting system.

When you did your online fitting what putter did you use? Also, I think that the putter you have would be perfect for me as I am 6'2" and have test putted with my driver at the same length. I have always liked to be more overtop of the putter and would be in a more Adam Scott than Langer position.

I used my jailbird for the fitting. They ask you what style you feel more comfortable with, Langer vs Scott... I told them my height and I like the Scott style as well. They put me in a 44.5 (I am 6'2 as well) length because I really like to get over the ball. If you watch Zalatoris (he plays a 44.5) over the ball I was trying to mirror that. The guys and gals over there are great through, just let them know what you're trying to do, and they will get you the right stuff. Also, if you talk to those guys, they all say the broom is the easiest putter to fit.

You can get a peek at one in this video. Looks like it’s more of a raw/uncoated head than the platinum that will probably be available to the masses.

I think long arms, short arms all that body proportion stuff comes into play.

Zalatoris is 6’2 plays a 44.5

Scott who is 6’0 plays a 45

I totally agree. I started with a 48 and worked it down until I got comfortable. I grabbed a Mezz Max from the outlet first and worked with that one. Then I custom ordered a DF.2.

I really wanted to try one of these. Our PGASS is the only place with Lab putters around and they only have the 2.1 in broomstick. I was shocked at how heavy it felt. It made it hard to make a swing, but it grew on me the more I tried it.

I putted some with a standard MM and liked it more even though it wasn’t fit for me. I would like to try it in the broomstick.

The DF3 were all locked up so didn’t get to try them at all, but I liked the smaller look.

More props to you all digging these brooms. I haven’t been able to figure them out, and I was hoping to love them!

Went by Golf Galaxy last night and they got a shipment of LABs in. The DF3s sold immediately, so I didn’t get to see them, but they did have the Mezz Max in broomstick. Score! Unfortunately, I had as much trouble putting with it as I did with the DF3 broomstick. I realize this a very different stroke and it will take more than 30 minutes to get used to, but it was just not comfortable at all for me. It would definitely take some practice for me to get used to.

Unfortunately, my stroke didn’t seem to like many putters at all last night. I know I’m not a great putter, but dang I was struggling! I tried both the Mezz and Mezz Max in standard models as well. I didn’t have as much luck with it as I did at the PGASS. I did try a Bettinardi Zero Z.1 that I actually liked a lot. Don’t see those anywhere.

I have been trying a Mezz Max broomstick and am sooooooooo close to pulling the trigger on one of these.  I just love how natural it is with them.  Questions I have for you broomstickers is should I go with a Mezz Max or wait for the DF3 to come out in a few weeks??

My build would be a 44.5 or 45"/ 79.5 lie angle and TPT shaft with split grip.

I had this same dilemma. I decided to just pull the trigger on the Mezz max. If Zalatoris and Scott are still using the Mezz max its good enough for me... That all being said I wouldn't be shocked if I buy a DF3 sometime this year. Lab does run some sales here and there, if I can catch it 20-30 percent off sold.

I have one on order w tpt shaft and it’s still processing and I ask myself this every day lol. Gonna roll with the mezz max. I’m sure they’ll be a lot of em for sale on BST when the df3 broom comes out.

ordered 2 and 1/2 weeks ago and crickets so far. Maybe another 2 and 1/2 and I’ll have it in hand.

If so had your credit card…. I would be all over a DF3 broom. DF 2.1 broom long time user here and demoed the Mezz Max numerous times, DF3 broom would be insane stable. Mezz Max head is just not in the same level as a DF 2.1 and the few times I demoed a DF3 regular length it was very stable. Thank me later….

I can get a mezz with Accra for 535ish. My question, is it worth the risk? Has everyone really seen that big of improvement?

If its a broom, resale value should be good (based of 535 used price). So probably not a very expensive experiment. As far as I can see, L.A.B. brooms are selling better than pixie dust with how long the build times are
