Hole-in-One certificate framing expenses

Recommended Posts

By happenstance, I was able to find my 8x11 HIO certificate issued by my golf course two years after I got my HIO.

I'm thinking of having it custom-framed but I was shocked to find out that Michael's is charging me a minimum of $275.91 (see pic below) for it.

Screenshot_20240327_194949_Gallery.jpg.8dad7aef7b6069023c9493dfe126b368.jpg

I've already paid for a separate frame that has my golf ball, hole pic and scorecard that cost me around $200+.

I'm hoping for input from other golfers who can provide cheaper options for custom framing options.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Is that the Sale price from Michael’s? They used to have substantial discount from time to time.

Or a standard size frame from Walmart, IKEA , even Michaels.   Probably fits, most of these types of certificates are a standard size.
Then there’s the frameless type, glass with a backing and 4 inconspicuous clips on the edges.

Thanks, st1800e! Yes, that is the discounted price.  I will be canvassing the shops you've recommended.

I'd buy a stock 8 x 10 frame and trim your certificate if possible. Frame prices are always crazy and you have double mats. Michaels probably has one or two guys that do that kind of serious mounting.

Having said that it is a fairly significant accomplishment so a couple of extra bucks for something your going to hang on the wall of your man cave and show your friends.... and probably have forever maybe $300 bucks isn't so bad.

Do you have a Hobby Lobby near you? Their frame shop does great work for a reasonable price.

Thanks, Volnut. I'll check it out.

Yes, I got a bag tag from TaylorMade for the ball and a plaque from Callaway for my pitching wedge.

I make these for friends who get a HIO.  I'd just make a frame.
