Let’s Talk Hybrids. G430 vs Paradym X..Anyone compare the 2?

I haven’t hit the Ping but the Paradym X is the first hybrid I’ve ever hit with any success. It doesn’t go left. It seems to want to go straight 99% of the time, and it’s adjustable to allow correct gapping. The sole seems to be great through a variety of lies and so takes me back to when they were called rescue clubs.

I much prefer fairway woods and the Paradym X is like a little fairway wood. I hit it like an iron, but it suits my eye.

I play the 5 Hybrid in this, turned to 23 degrees and it gaps well between 7W and 6 iron in my “full” bag of 12, or my 5W and 6 iron in my more frequently used bag of 9.

The not going left part is crucial. I’ve owned the g425 and it was solid but have heard good things about callaway hybrids, never have I hit one but I’m intrigued to try after your feedback

Yes I had bad outcomes going left with hybrids that I had never experienced with any other type of club. I had nearly given up on them as I far prefer fairway woods, but didn’t feel like going the 9 wood route yet.

if you are like me and have historically got on better with woods than hybrids then the Paradym X is definitely worth trying if you are able too.

It’s a cut-wave sole they refer to it as in marketing speak, but I’ve found it great from rough, fairway and even bare mud lies here in the UK winter.

I had owned the Ping G400 previously and have loved their irons but really struggled with this hybrid.

Please let us know how you get on if you do try one.

IMO prior generation Cobra King Tec hybrids have to be on the list for several reasons-

  1. They're adjustable
  2. They have movable weights
  3. They're easy to launch from the short stuff
  4. They sit square at address
  5. They do not promote pulls or draws
  6. They're a bargain right now (new) from several sources

I’ve never had much luck with Callaway hybrids for whatever reason so I have not hit the Callaway.

I do own a G430. I think it sets up very square and does not go left for me in the standard neutral setting. It also has a flat setting to reduce the left shot even more if you have that issue.

I highly recommend it. I’ve had it a couple of months so far and I can’t think of a bad shot I’ve hit with it yet. Good luck.

I have a 19* 3hy G430 that I rotate in my bag to replace my 7w at times.  In my experience it is neutral.  As previously mentioned it can go flat if necessary.

I'm debating getting a 5hy and turning it down 1.5* to replace my 4i.

Is it a pretty versatile club?

I believe it to be.  I think it's quite forgiving, and I like the look and feel.

In the past I gamed the Ping G Hybrids (circa 2016ish) and I did not like them.  The G430 is a marked improvement in my opinion.

My favorite hybrids I've played over the years would be the OG Adams Pro Gold (man those were good, they were in my bag for at least 7 years), Titleist 818 H1 and TM SIM2 (the smaller, adjustable hosel model, not the Max).  I would put the G430 up against any of those.

I did game the OG Apex as well as Apex 19 hybrids, to me they were kinda "meh", and haven't tried any additional Callaway hybrids.  They weren't bad, they just didn't stand out to me.

This is exactly what I’ve done (need to update the WITB in my signature) and I LOVE it. I’ve failed with other 5 hybrids before, but for some reason the G430 is easier for me to hit lower. Even easier at 25 degrees than the TSR3 was at 24 degrees. I can’t explain why — in theory, and based on their design, obviously the G430 should fly higher, but it doesn’t.

I’ve enjoyed hitting all kinds of shots with it. I can hoist up a high fade that carries 195 and stops quickly on greens (did exactly that with a forced carry and a front pin on the 18th hole of my last round — a spot that’s given me tons of trouble before), or sling a low draw that can run out to 230. It’s awesome, and has made playing in the wet, muddy rough early this spring so much easier.
