Wilson staff model blades long irons

Played my 3-pw Wilson staff model blades but thinking of swapping out the 3 and 4 iron for cb’s.

 

anyone done this and at what point in your sets did you change to cb’s if at all?

Curious on this as well.  I have a 4-pw on order.  Was even thinking about swapping on the 4 iron for a Wilson 4 utility.  Works for scheffler 🙂

Combo sets are pretty common, maybe more so in the DTC arena.  For the last 20 years I've been playing a combo set of Snake Eye 600c (cavity back) 3-6 and 600b (blade) 7-PW.  It's a great set though I'm probably going to finally replace them next year.  Probably with another combo set of some sort.

I don't own Staff blades "yet", but hit a ton of balls at an outdoor fitting event. I found the blade to be higher ball flight compared to the CB. Also found them to be more forgiving. 

One caveat, they stung worse when I hit a total bladed shot.

If you are starting to lose ball speed, changing for the CB might not be the solution if keeping the same lofts. I changed my 4i to a utility iron for this reason, because it allowed me to get more ball speed over the "CB" in the Takomos which is practically a blade. Look at the video on the GolfWRX instagram of Wesley Bryan talking about his 5 and 4 irons. He uses the Takomo 101U 4i bent weak to be a 5 iron and a Titleist T200 Utility 4i for his 4 iron. With those long irons it is more about what will give you a better ball speed gap, and Titleist has even said the goal is 5mph between each iron.

When I bought my Haywood's I bought both the CB's and the MB's thinking I would blend them. But after hitting my 4 MB, I knew I would never touch the CB's and I sold them. Then the 3 MB came out, so I bought that, too. 🤣 

 

A set of Wilson blades will be mine eventually, but the new ones don't even come in lefty.

2nd Swing has them available on their site.

I purchased the Staff Blades about 10 months ago so the new model has a slight difference in the back of the muscle.  I ordered 4-pw set.  After hitting the 4iron for a month I ordered the 3iron, mostly for a couple of specific par 3's.  They play well off the turf and well off the tee.  I looked at the cavity back model as a mixed iron but my eye didn't want to adjust.  Missing putts costs me more than missing a long iron swing here and there truth be told.

Sure they do.  You have to go into the custom option and build the set.

I couldn't find it and Wilson said they weren't making them, so I don't know where 2nd Swing is getting them from.

I emailed Wilson and they told me they weren't making lefties for '24. 🤣 

 

I'm guessing it was somebody from the softball division or something.

Watched a YouTube review today of the 2024 CB’s and blades and dude was hitting left handed.
