Parametric acceleration

Recommended Posts

Fancy word of the day but I’m looking for advice on how to work on this. Not the easiest and quite complicated in my opinion. I’ve tried similar drills to the one in the instagram video below and it’s helped, but not quite there. Any suggestions?

Good article here if you’re unsure what I’m referring to https://www.adamyounggolf.com/low-point-and-parametric-acceleration/

Theres a good about of info on it but not much in regards to how to work on it.

Get left at the right time   Trying to work on this actively is like trying to work on lag and getting open.

All "tips" are welcome. Instruction not desired.

Thanks for the reply Monte, I was wondering if this was the case. I was also recommended to try one of the Mach 3 speed training tools which has helped more than anything. I’ve seen some topics around them before which you’ve posted on. Guess I need a little more patience and/or a lesson with you 🤣

Strange, but I think this concept is what I have been working on for about a year without really knowing it.  I tend to get really steep, or at least I thought I was getting steep.   I will come down and take huge divots, especially with shorter clubs.   I have been working on having my left hip rise up slightly on the downswing as I had a tendency to "sit" on my left side.  I practice this with 1/2 to 3/4 wedge shots and it is amazing how just this little move shallows out my path a lot and my contact is much better.

I then try to translate it to a full swing as well, but I also then feel I'm pushing off with my left foot more forcefully.    When I get this right on full swings, I get much more of a snap/whipping sensation coming through, and I feel like I am generating more power with very little effort.....

Would you say the "zipper away" drill would be a good start at creating the right conditions for this to happen?

I'm thinking you pretty much need to be left early enough for the zipper away drill anyway. Then it would also help you feel that sort of "lowering" that Adam Young descries in transition and to start the downswing. And then you'll almost be forced into this pattern through delivery and impact to keep from hitting the ground 12" behind the ball?

Asking mainly for @Kuuuch here -- of all the problems my swing has, this isn't one of them lol!

Thanks to you & chatgpt for clearing that up. I was worried I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.

What's wrong with it?

"Parametric acceleration in the context of golf club dynamics just refers to the instantaneous rate of change of velocity of the clubhead, encompassing the non-linear kinematic response to the golfer's biomechanical input forces and torques. This phenomenon involves complex interactions between angular momentum, torque-induced rotational inertia, and the centripetal and tangential components of acceleration vectors. It is further influenced by the dynamic modulation of swing plane vectors, the gyroscopic stabilization effects, and the torsional stiffness of the shaft. The resultant parametric acceleration vector is a function of both the temporal-spatial distribution of force application and the anisotropic material properties of the club, resulting in a multifaceted and highly nonlinear kinematic trajectory during the downswing phase, culminating in an optimized transfer of kinetic energy to the golf ball at impact." -chatgpt
