Gents - NIKE has finally put together the real deal. You hear the buzz words floating around everywhere with the OEM's - "king of ball speed", "lowest spinning", "anti-left", "highest launching" driver. IMO someone has stepped up to the plate and backed up this cheap talk. NIKE-PROTO said it best - try it with the fit cart. He was right. I'm young, swing hard, and hit the ball VERY high. Swing speed on an average drive hovers around 117 +/- 2 mph. I have spent way too much money over the last two years searching for the perfect combination. The only shafts/heads that fit me were RARE/EXOTIC finds. Basically, I have never been able to off the shelf exotic shafts - spun too much/launched too high.

CURRENT SETUP - FT-5 tour 8.5* (clocked) VTLTx.

SUMO2 TOUR - 8.5* VS proto S flex (Fit cart was not complete with shafts).

This driver is amazing - typically a VS proto doesn't come close for me - but in a S flex, I was bombing the ball. Launching around 12 - spinning no higher than 2200. Great club - going back to hit it again when the rest of the shafts come in (only one X had arrived).

I am hoping that NIKE offers a White Board in the custom options - would love to rip on that combo... Short story - I was amazed that the results were as good as they were, too good to be true! MUST HIT/MUST BUY for high launch/high spin players. Nike needs to make a product line around this driver - guys, it's that good.

Thanks for the info. I just got an email from NIKE Canada on the 360 cart so maybe I'll finally see one..... Glad to see you had such success with it.

 

BTW: Is that all you were fitted for? Did you get to try the ball fitting as well? I'm kinda curious about that. You may have the swing speed for the NIKE Plat. I'm wondering if you got to see the plat/black for ball fitting? (What balls did you use?)

Play the PRO-V1x now - testing the PLATINUM, I do have the ball speed for it and am very excited about the possibilities. I have heard that the ball with come to life with the proper swing speed! Now that I made the switch to the modified groove tp's iron spin has been killed, I would like to pick some more up with the shorter irons (stopping the ball is not an issue, but a little more greenside spin isn't bad!). Plus with the TOUR 2 having such low spin rates the Platinum driver spin may be needed to keep the ball airborne.

You sound like a low capper but I'll ask anyway...How is the forgiveness?

Not bad... Isn't the 5900 or L4V, but it's not crooked by any means. Equivalent to the 5000.

That's kind of wierd they wouldn't offer the whiteboard. All the other major OEM's offer it and with Tiger bagging it seems like a good option to have. Not like they will lose money with the offering since it will be $ increase for the upgrade.

I am surprised that this combo works for you. I have been playing rounds with this driver and it is much shorter than my ft 5. I have similar swingspeed and have tried the PL red x, nv x, vs proto s, and bb s. and they are launching extremely high for me. I know it is not the swing because my ft 5 still launches near perfect. I have also had trouble with this club going left. Hopefully when my rep comes through we can find the right shaft from their limited assortment.
