my review of the Fujikura Rombax 6z08

Finally a KEEPER, over the 'Pype, Accra SC75, V2, GD YS7+, PL Red,

I've finally found the ideal shaft for me: the Fujikura Rombax 6Z08.

At the advice of our friend Joe Kwok, I sent my Burner TP V1 to him to have him spine, flo, and install the 6Z08.

I've hit pretty much every driver released over the past year, with TONS of shafts, and this is it!!!

I usually have a high ball flight and am usually way to spinny, but don't want to sacrifice feel to offset these problems. Well, I'll never have to make that sacrifice again! The Rombax is the ultimate in feel, while providing the most penetrating flight I've found.

I've hit multiple Accra shafts and Diamana shafts looking for the magical feel that people rave about these shafts having, and I've tried the Aldila Protopype and even the V2 (both sacrificing a TON of feel) for the performance I want. Nothing compares to the 6Z08. Nothing!

I've yet to balloon one single ball yet! Seriously, not one single ball has ballooned on me with this thing, and it is EASILY the best feel I've ever had in a driver shaft...hands down!!!

And talk about looks, man, this shaft is sexy!!! The graphics and colors are awesome!

I've definitely found my preferred line of shafts...now just to save up some cash to perfect my 3 wood!!!

awesome shaft....frozen ropes for me in a j33r 460. i agree about the feel...i think it is probably smoother than the blueboard.

yup, no issues shaping shots both ways.

You guys have me convinced, i was already heavily leaning to this shaft but now it's a no brainer. I have a 757 in it at present and want something lighter, around the 65-70 grams and this is it. I was also looking for no extra spin and launch that was still reasonablly easy to turn over and this is it from all accounts. Thanks a lot guys, appreciated.

honestly if I wanted ballflight and spin characteristics that I have on my driver in my fairway woods, I'd have this shaft (different weights maybe) in all my woods. But I want to high spinners with my fws'. The shaft feels that good.

I haven't hit the X, but the Z is supposed to be the lower launching of the Rombax series shafts. I'd think the feel should be superb in all the lines, but again, that's just my belief as I've yet to try the X.

Completely opposite ends of the spectrum feel wise. While a good shaft, the V2 is one of the more boardy/harsh shafts I've hit...the 7Z08 will be the most smooth shaft you'll hit. It'll be night and day! As far as ball flight, they are somewhat similar. The V2 launches a bit higher in my opinion...also, the spin rate should drop a touch.

I'm playing the Rombax 5X07 in a MP 600, 9.5 Deg. I'm considering going to the 5Z08 to help bring the ball flight down. I'm a 7.0 Index w/SS 85-90MPH.

I'm glad to hear you are doing well with it. Johnny have his for a while, It's rare to see him staying this long if he has some slight doubt with it :). So he must be a happy golfer :clapping:.

 

BTW, I would recommend any one to get a complete LM data to be able to tell if it's gonna work for you or not.

Hey guys. I am getting ready to change shafts in my 905R. I have to yst-6 in it now and was planning on swapping it out with the Graffaloy Blue in my T. Any comparisons by chance? My swing speed is 110+ and I launch the ball pretty high with the yst and a little more controlled with the blue....with my misses ballooning. I also prefer a lighter shaft. Have hit the Diamana 83g and it's just a bit heavy for me. Thanks for the thoughts.

It's the driver shaft I had been waiting for fuji to make for what seems like years, since I tried my first Rombax 7V05. Still prefer the old tour spec design and color of the older rombax, but the performance is so good I dont mind. I've revamping my woods to fit the ballflight I prefer to see now and the rombax Z works in my driver. Only thing I would trade it for is a lower lofted LCG head, but the Z stays.

This sounds like the shaft for me. I have always struggled with high ball flight. My clubhead speed has dropped in the last year to around 95 mph. Do you think a regular shaft would work for me. I was thinking of installing it in an Exotics XCG driver. It currently has an Aldila DVS regular shaft and it really wants to balloon a lot for me.

Launch angle 17-18.5 Degrees

Spin Rate 4000+ (thats my downfall) w/ driver

Distance carry 235-245

Smash Factor 1.38-1.42

Ball Speed 142-150

Tempo: Really Quick, put a large load on the shaft

Get your self a lower loft and check it again on the LM before you can get back at me. Also check your attack angle when you are on the LM.

Oops sorry, my bad...didn't see that LOL! To busy today! :clapping:

 

It looks like you just need to bring it down a bit. Your spin rate is just coming form the way you hit the ball ( a bit to steep ).

 

It works or not are depending on what is the shaft on the club now.
