Anyone played/reviewed Erin Hills this year?

I played it last year and thought it was interesting. I would suggest playing Lawsonia Links in Green Lake before making the trip to Erin Hills. It is a better all around course.

If you're driving up from Champaign get a place to stay and play them both. They are less than an hour apart. I played Lawsonia a couple of weeks ago when I was up from Houston and it was the best sub $40 round of golf I have ever played. You won't be disappointed. I'm not sure how much I liked Erin Hills having only played it once, but it is definitely worth seeing. Both are unlike anything you will ever play in Central Illinois.

I played Erin Hills twice last year and I loved it. It is big and wild but very natural and very fun. As long as you play from the right set of tees and you do not mind a few blind shots I think it is more than worth the trip. I personally drove up from Chicago twice in the same week. When in the area I would definitely go play Lawsonia also I plan to do that next time I make it up there.

Erin Hills is excellent, dont miss it. you might consder driving over to kohler and playing the Irish, River or Straits. Though Straits is big$$

Having just come back from Wisconsin I would say it's definitely worth the money to play the Straits. I can't wait to go back and hopefully play under some more benign conditions (high of 45 degrees with wind gusts up to 45-50 mph).

I'd also add The Bull in Sheboygan to your list of courses to play in the area.

I thought all of the Kohler courses were overrated. I liked Erin Hills better. The Straits course just felt forced and fake. I would highly recommend going to Bandon and experiencing the real thing instead.

Played Erin Hills earlier this year. It was a little slow on the greens and fairways, I was a tad disappointed with the conditions, but the layout is second to none.

But for the money there is nothing better in the US than Lawsonia. Links is awesome, and the woodlands is great. I can't get enough of these 2 courses.

Kohler courses are awesome, but kind of expensive.

I haven't played EH yet, but want to really bad. The price isn't terrible and is within reasonable distance from Milwaukee/Chicago.

The USGA is looking at giving the 2017 US Open to Erin Hills and if a success, make it a permanent spot in the rotation. The USGA lacks a "go-to" course in the midwest and they want this to deliver. It's actually the first course given a USGA event without even being seeded yet (2008 Women's Publinx).

Keep in mind the course is still very young and very raw. I heard the course isn't in astounding condition all the time like the Kohler counterparts, but time will help this. The course is virtually untouched from the original lay of the land making it very natural feeling.

Give it a shot!
