Ian Poulter's Cobra Irons

They look like 20 or 30 old models of MacGregor, Titleist, Spalding, Wilson. Nothing new in the design of those blades. Wonder with those how he could tolerate the TM TPs.

 

Wonder how hard it would be to get a similar set?? HHHHMMMMM Those would certainly be more desireable than Adam's A Tours.

If this is true then I will more than likely say goodebye to my MP32 and hello to them. I still love my Forged SS but I benched them for the MP32. I would love to try them out

They are a prototype blade made by Cobra for him.

It's been beat to death here and other sites. Those supposedly are dies Cobra bought/leased from MacGregor that MacGregor chose not to release (big mistake look at the hideous 675s) but sell to Cobra. Even though MacGregor said they would never make irons for another manufacturer and restamp them (a la Norman days), they don't appear to have a problem selling the dies to another manufacturer for them to have Endo forge. They have nothing to do with the SSs and CBs which were customized selections from the Endo basic forged catalog. These are made from 1025 carbon steel, the SSs and CBs were made from S-30 carbon steel. It appears that at least three of the Cobra tour players have sets. They presently don't have enough heads to supply the tour desire. Looks like MacGregor made a big mistake since few want those bulbous 675s.

Thanks for the info. Very interesting. Yet another set that will be next to impossibe to find.

wow, cobra, ha? These guys really just go to where the money is huh? I mean think about it for a second, go back 2 years ago, how many guys on the tour used cobra irons or had a cobra bag? Cobra must be making a huge effort and reaching deep to sign these guys, or somehow overnight they must have all of a sudden come out with great equipment.

If I remember correctly Hale Irwin won a fair amount of his Senior Tournaments being sponsored by Cobra including the forged SS irons.

Cobra is trying to make a comeback on tour, that is their strategy... They had good precense with Norman and Irwin, but since they left, Cobra hasn't had any tour play except for Lehman playing that old Cobra 2-iron, which gets no publicity, only insiders that can take a peek at his bag...

What Cobra is going for is young, hip, LONG players (Villegas, Holmes, Ogilvy, Poulter, Na) and they did get a 1-2 finish last week with Holmes and Villegas... The guys are playing new prototype blades and forged CB and they are waiting for the new tour prototype drivers to come out.... I would love to get my hands in one of those sets, but I think they are VERY exclusive and they are not making many of those, only for the tour guys...

 

Looks like a good year for cobra...

 

This are the forged CB that Camilo is playing and you already saw the proto blades that Poulter is using..

hey fred, I did some side work for Cobra last summer, and the reason they had no tour presence is because they weren't paying anyone, until this year. They hit it big with JB Holmes, and look for Ian to play well at the Accenture, cause he always does. More pub for Cobra, which is much deserved
