Hooweee this is going to be a can of worms...............!!!!

Long story short (and my personal opinion so please take it with a pinch of salt) - very good shafts and in some cases the best out there BUT dogged by an apparent inability to get pros to stay playing them and by their close working relationship with some to-remain-nameless people whose attitude to sales is a little over-eager/misplaced/blatant shill (choose one of the above).

Well I read some stuff on another board that the number 2 player in the world is throwing it in his FT-5, and KJ is playing it already. I just want to know if its worth the 400 bucks to get it. I read the same thing though that some of the tour guys have a hard time keeping it in the bag. Whether is their club company or whatever, I don't know but if it as good as some of the stuff I have been reading it may be worth it. Right now I play a speeder 757 X flex in a bridgestone J33 460. I would just like a little less dispersion.

Great shafts if they work for your swing.

I have the studio's in my Adams irons - (tendonitus, these are very smooth)

Altus in my hybrids and 3 wood - smooth

F7M in my Bridgestone J33R - smooth but I hit this one too low.

Last night I hit the TP 7 in my club builders 3 wood and it was very very smooth but too much money for me.

You're not going to get much improvement over Speeder 757. Matrix does have some good shafts in the F7M2/F8M2, but there are as good or better products available from Fujikura, MRC, Graphite Design and Accra.

As for the stuff read on "another board," they are in it for the buck. KJ has been with Matrix since they were MCC and Apache, so he's not a convert. And it's not going to cost you 400. They'll charge you $600 because if you don't play lime green, you're leaving yards on the table.

Get to a launch monitor and check your numbers with you current setup. The Bridgestone and Speeder 757 is an outstanding combination. You may be close to optimal already.

when matrix was apache golf.. they were junk... ( i never hit them when they were but MANY people told me).. now that they are i believe MCC, theyve felt great! so i dont know... if i had the money i would play it... i have to say im seeing more people playing them... possibly they will lower the costs for affordability for the average consumer.

I have a friend who has been struggling to find a graphie shaft he has confidence in, he has tried several different shafts i.e. graphalloy blue, speeder 757, white board and many more. While most of them give him better stats due to a lack of consistant accuracy he keeps going back to steel and is currently using a 905R with an X100 shaft.

This week he had a Trackman session, current driver gave 275 yards carry + 10 yard roll out with 4000 rpm spin, Matrix F7M2 XX-flex gave him a consistant carry around 320 with the longest rolling out to 345 and 2200 rpm spin. His swing speed was around 125mph on normal swings and pushing 130 when he went after it.

With tighter dispetion he is looking forward to taking this shaft onto the course and I just hope he keeps the control he wants and is able to keep this shaft in his gamer, also helps that Matrix are giving him a shaft FOC and Titleist are installing one in a new 909 D3 so he will end up with two drivers for no cost.

Looks like Matrix is the perfect shaft for him but as everyone is aware it could be as muh useas a banana to the next man, debates/discussion help narrow the choice for when you get fitted but fitting is the only way to get the perfect combo unless you are very lucky.

Barry.

well if he carries it over 330 I look forward to seeing him overtake Bubba at the top of the Distance category!

He didn't hit any carries over 330 but he is scary long, he was in the top 50 amatuer list in the world rankings but after losing his points for his US college win last year and poor driving and putting early this seasonhe has dropped down to 71. He is going to the european tour school at the end of this year so hopefully you might get to see him play.

He is also happy to admit that Bubba is longer than him but I doubt there would be much in it.

The code-6s tipped 1/2 was too soft for me in a L4V head but i found out it was not my fit given my short heavy accelerating swing. Hit an XCON-7 in a head i didn't like recently and it's not bad. Ball comes off well and it's quite anti left. Currently about to buy either a code-7sx or 660TR this weekend for my main driver. Will chime back fully in a couple of weeks.

I, too, have been looking at Matrix shafts, mainly at the F7M2 or the Code 7 in a Strong flex, tipped 1/4" (maybe?). I will wait until October to see what the new Titleist 909 drivers will hold in store. I have heard rumors that an Ozik shaft will be a stock shaft for them...

great performance, looks, and bling factor.

it'll set you back a lot in terms of price

is it worth it?

not really unless you can afford it, like anything else.

you can find another shaft that will perform the same, but these shafts puts that cherry on top.

i have tried the altus xcon hybrid, xcon5m xcon6, code6, xcon altus.

i haven't gotten myself to justify for the 1k altus shaft yet.

Wallace does tank it

Not a guy you'd argue with though, lol!

Wallace does hit it miles, only guy that is longer than Elliot Saltman (another monster) in Scotland.

I think Matrix make great shafts. They do get the ball in the air with fairly low spin and are very smooth.

I would also say that the high end shafts from most manufacturers will give good results as well though.

The main thing is getting one to match your ball flight and spin.

F7-M2 LTD is good for me and I also like the 83x whiteboard.

I have the XCON 6 and i love it. Of course i got fitted for it, and there were other shafts that were right in that neighborhood for my swing. I went with the matrix because it felt great, very stable with a lot of pop when you swing through the ball. When you hit it on the sweetspot of the club you definitely feel the great result. I have noticed an increase in my total distance on most drives, but also my average distance increased each round... if it fits you its a great shaft, and its the same price as a high end Fuji or Diamana.

Thats him, he still hasn't beaten me in a competative match play round. Sounds good but he hasn't played the club champs for 7/8 years, I'd be wanting alot of shots now.
