lol just reading this i am laughing guarentee 3/4 of the kids that post here are liars.. I just took up golf this year and im a 2 handicap :o haha bullxxxx
not wanna start anything cause fighting over the internet is gay. but if we think about this logically we kids have the summer off and play every day and a lot play 36 or 27 a day, so by the time were all said and done most of us play 100 or plus rounds. Assuming you are a married man with children if you have and amazing wife your getting out twice a week and getting about 40 rounds a year even though most i talk to its more like 20. so for me i have 187 rounds in my belt so far and i am a 5.1 ignore sig i have played 1 3/4 years now. for the guy playing 20 rounds a year thats roughly 9 1/2 years so its all relevant, not to mention were young and in shape a ton of kids play one year of hockey and play AAA the next year stranger s*** has happened then some one having natural talent. Now like i said before i am not bashing i just didn't think or assume you thought from this point a view and i realize this was not directed at me but in everyone in general.

I simply don't understand how you guys get to 3 or 4 handicap after just 1 year of competition! I mean, in Belgium, it it simply impossible to get after 1 year single!!
Impossible! Is there an answer please? How come?
Age: 12
Handicap: 21 in europe so 16 in US?
Ambition: Something in common with businnes :p so nothing to do with golf sadly :-)

Thanks for answering me!

Hey man cmon, I wanna be a professional golfer with such a burning desire that it keeps me up at night (seriously)

On practice days I practice 5-8 hours, and I play 3 times a week. I have only been playing golf for 2 years and my handicap is 3.8.

If I dont make it to the tour then I will not get a job... I will practice even harder, nothing will keep me from being on the PGA Tour.

As much as I support chasing dreams, I support being realistic just as much. Let's face it. If you're not already contending in national tournaments in your teens, and if your handicap isn't already low, your chances of getting on tour are slim to none.
The chances of becoming a successful professional golfer are slim to none even for those top ranked national juniors. But, it doesn't matter.

All these juniors that are heading off to college are doing the right thing. They are preparing themselves for life after golf.

Any junior that goes to college to improve their golf game isn't thinking clearly. Golf games don't improve in college, if anything you're just behind two years on the kid who took two years off and trained at an Academy in Sweden or Austrailia.

You'd be surprised how many Nationwide and PGA Tour players were not successful juniors or collegiate golfers. So, I'm going to step in and tell every junior out there that dreams of being the best player in the world to completely ignore you - you have no clue what you're talking about.

Dream on.

dont want to sound like an a** but there are some seriously low handicaps for your ages here
The handicaps seem low to you because you have a CONGU (R&A) Handicap Index. The USGA handicaps tend to be a few shots lowers than the CONGU, because of the differences in the system. The CONGU handicaps tend to stay a little closer to a player's average score while the USGA handicaps are based of the top 10 out of 20 rounds. In other words, the CONGU handicap tends to be based on a scoring average and the USGA is focused on the player's potential. They both have their pros and cons, I'm not sure which one is the "better" system.

How do you guys my age shoot under par. I've only done it once (71) and I a 3.9 handicap. Got any tips?
Hit your GIRs, keep under 30 putts, and get more up and downs. I know how basic it sounds, but if you can do this, its not so difficult to break par every now and then. Shoot for at least 14 greens a round and fewer than 27 putts and you'll be alright.

Hope this helps.
