For those of you who are 5'9"

I am 5'9" or 5'10" but I use a 35 inch putter because I have really long legs, so my upper body and arms are farther away from the ground

I had mine at 35" up until a few weeks ago. I got it cut down to 34" and am making every thing inside 5 feet again. I think I just had a little too much flex in my elbows and was not consistant in my path because of that.

I'm 5'8", and have always played a 34" standard lie putter - at least until a couple of months ago. I was at a Ping demo night at a Golfsmith store, and was there early putting on the practice green. The rep observed me for about 5 minutes and asked if he could give me a suggestion. He asked if I had ever been fitted for a putter, and when I said "no, I've always used a 34". He handed me a 33" of the same model and asked me to try it with the ball about an inch more towards my front foot.

 

I have always been a pretty good putter, and my misses tend to be just short and slightly right. I was sure the 33" would not be right for me, but was shocked how much more natural my arm position and shoulder arc were with the shorter shaft. I actually went home that night and cut my X7 down to 33"! What a difference it has made for me. I am rolling the ball better now than I ever have. I wonder how many birdies and par saves I left out on the course all these years! :rolleyes:
