Leather grips.Has anyone played them?

I've been scoping out leather grips for my irons and wedges,just wondering If anyone can share there opinion on how they like them.

Played leather grips in the late 60's early seventies. They had a tendency to get hard and slick, and in the Florida heat, I remember keeping a container of "stick-um" in my bag to maintain tackiness. I was a youngster then and probably did not maintain the grips as i should have. The only leather grip I have left is an 8802 putter, also from the 70's. For woods and irons, I do not see a reason to play leather grips today with all of the other choices available.

Ya, I played them about 30 years ago. Hard, slick, there is no reason to use them with all the other good grips out there now.

Gripmaster leather grips have 'pro-tack' in the leather, a tackiness additive. The wetter they get, the tackier they get. I have had two putter grips so I can't comment on the softness or hardness of the normal club grips. Why not buy one for one of your clubs and give it a try? Then buy more if you like them.

Gripmasters are extremely tacky and they feel awesome the more shots you hit with them...jusy be prepared to dish out some dough $$$

Had a set of Gripmasters for awhile. They were really nice and plenty tacky. They ended up being way too firm for me (and I play cord grips) and my hands would hurt after awhile. I think they make some that aren't quite as firm but at that point I wasn't interested in dropping a bunch of dough on an exploratory mission so I just moved back to the cords that I knew and loved.

Leather will make the shaft in your feel softer. Gripmaster's are great grips. But If you play often, then the butt cap they use wears out, where you put the club in and out of the bag. I played the whole year with them in 2006. My lob wedge wore the end out of it about every 2 months. But I practice a lot with it, and putting it in and out of the bag, wore the end or butt cap out. I had a leather stitchback grip on a Scotty Cameron Newport Beach. It lasted a little over a year. I play about 150 times a year. So my huge amount of play figures into the wear.

I got a gripmaster leather grip on my driver (really tacky and great for sweaty hands) and one on my putter. Nothing beats the feel of leather on your flatstick
