It actually works too!

I am tired of paying someone to pull shafts for me as I assembled everything on my own. I decided to go get some materials from the store and voila! A shaft puller is made.

Looks like a lot of work. If you ever buy one, this one rocks. http://golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_GW1009_A_cn_E_29 Load the club and tighten until the marker says loaded. Heat the head for a little bit. Go make a sandwich and by time you come back, the head is off.

look really high tech like a ton of planning went into it. Or you could be one of those guys I dont like who work at NASA and can just think of this stuff any time. Either way looks really well made and nice. would be a great youtube video seeing it in action.

undoing that plate for every pull looks like a PITA, but if it only gets used once in a blue moon not too bad I guess. Sorry, but I wouldn't want to buy a shaft that was pulled with this puller as it's really easy to use a wrench as a form of easy leverage and snap a lightweight shaft thae way that shat holder is designed.

I took a 3/8ths drill bit and bored between the two plates to create a channel for the shaft to "sit" in. This is also 1 of the reasons why I chose 1/8" aluminum stock. It is soft and malleable. I also have a rubber vise clamp that I will probably start using. Believe me, the shaft really is not under much stress if any. Unbolting to install a club does sound like a pain in the keister but when it isn't used regularly I am fine with it. I will probably use some wing nuts to make it a quicker change. I really cannot say enough about how simple and easily this thing works. Not to toot my own horn or anything but this works like butter. I was expecting a few 4 letter words but a 5 minute shaft pull without spending 100+ on a puller or paying 20 for someone else to do it makes me a happy camper.

You put the hosel of the club in the "notch" where the screw handle is, clamp the shaft down under the aluminum plate and start heating up the club. Slowly turn the screw and the head slides off like butter.

I am nowhere near a NASA engineer. I teach 3rd grade and work on cars as a side hobby. I have a some simple machinery (drill press, disc sander, etc.) at my disposal. There really isn't much to it. 5 pieces of aluminum stock bolted to a drill press vise and your done.

I think your new tool is incredibly cool. Now that you designed and built it, you will be able to make little tweaks to your hearts content so it will always work EXACTLY the way you want it to, rather than being handcuffed by others ideas on how it should work... Great job!
