I tested the prototype version of this ball in December on my Myrtle Beach trip. The Proto5 was a isurprise to me. I had played TPX and expected that the Proto 5X would be the best ball for me. There will be more testing but I can tell you the TP5 is all the golf ball I really need. It's as long as the TPX, it is soft as I would want to golf ball to be and it feels wonderful off the putter. I saw more height off the driver. Which will be good and I did notice extra distance with my irons. And it checks just is good as any other ball I've ever played. jll62 said the other day in another thread that we may be at a point in time where we have tremendous options in a premium ball. And I would have to agree with that. If you're looking for a specific feel , specific launch or specific spin there is a ball for you. What I like about the TP line of golf balls is that you get the best combination of all three. And for me it is a great wind ball. Seems to have a very piercing flight in the wind. Try it for yourself.

Last range session for a week or so. Indiana weather is very unpredictable. 72° today and sunny calm winds. Six hours later it's already dropped into the 40s and raining. Snow flurries and 30° by 6 o'clock tomorrow morning! ? I guess winter wasn't completely over and will be a week to 10 days before we get back to 50° weather. But I thought I'd share pictures of my new 3 wood!

That Tour M2 looks good. Is it noticeably smaller than the retail? Love the score lines and deeper face. Wedges look fantastic too.

I guess it was a bit of a problem with the shafts that I chose, the Modus 105. They should have that cleared up this week, I hope! And next week's going to be cold and rainy anyway so hopefully they'll show up toward the end of the month. Can't wait to hit them.

I put this 3wood down next to my retail M2 end it really is not much noticeable difference at address. The face being the big difference. Just one range session last night with it and I did hit some pretty good shots. Still way too early to tell too much. But I am very pleased and encouraged.

The wedges just feel really good and I can't wait to get them out on the course. The two range sessions I've had with them, were very good. Hoping to have my new irons in the next few weeks

Funny you say that. I've been playing the TPX the last year or so and was wondering if this new version would be an easy transition to the TP5X.

It really depends on what you're looking for in a golf ball. If you really like the TPX from last year, the TP5 is a good place to start. If you got higher clubhead speed then say 100 to 105, you could benefit from what the TP5X. I'm planning on doing some more testing with the TP5X, but I'm not sure how much more feel and performance I'm going to gain.

There will be a dark finish that will be offered later this spring early summer. Not sure of any others though

Antique Bronze it's called. Looks really cool, but it only comes in standard bounce.

Still waiting on the irons to be delivered. I opted for Nippon Modus105 shafts. And there is a slight delay on those. Still should have them in the next week or so. Then I'll need some spring like weather to show up!

Still not quite enough time to say that one is better than the other. I thought EF was a very good wedge and I liked the feel over the tour preferred that it replaced. It always a good spin for me also. From the feel standpoint the MG wedge takes the feel part up a bit. Not sure about the spin yet but I would doubt that we lost any spin. Only been on the range with the 50 and 54. I will have to work on distances but so far so good

New TM supreme cart bag has arrived. Now just waiting for my P•770 to show up. Still waiting for the Modus 105 to show up. Added the 58/12 (HB) to the bag. It is very good so far. Haven't used it out of the sand yet and I hope that continues!

 

Pictures of how the clubs set in the bag. I like how the 15 way dividers give each club their own room and space. And this bag has plenty of pockets for your stuff.

The TM P-770's have arrived! Modus 105 stiff shafts are wonderful as always. Worth the wait. I told someone yesterday that the switch to these irons was effortless. The shape is actually a bit of a confidence boost slightly larger than the PSi Tour irons from last year and the RSi TP irons of 2 yrs ago. Very pleased with the first round results.

 

 

 

More pictures to come! I hope this is not just a short honeymoon. With these irons. Not going to be grand statements but these are very good.

 

MG wedges are still performing well.
