Is it just me....or is Jim Gray the worst reporter???

I don't know if it's just me but I think that Jim Gray has to be the worst reporter out there these days. "Hey John...how is it playing with you wife in prison??" what is that...you could tell JD was not happy after that question and then the question he posed to Chad Campbell about if beating Tiger being better than a win on tour. He beat Tiger....that happens....but better than winning a PGA Tour event??? Come on. He is terrible, im sorry!!!!

Gray asked Rose, banned in 1989 for gambling, why he hasn't admitted that he bet on baseball.

 

``I'm not going to admit to something that didn't happen,'' said Rose, baseball's career hits leader. ``I know you're getting tired of hearing me say that. It's too festive a night to worry about it.''

 

``I mean, show it to me, where is it?,'' Rose asked.

 

Responded Gray: ``But you agreed to a ban from baseball for life.''

 

``It also says I can apply for reinstatement in one year. I was looking forward to that day,'' Rose answered.

 

Rose applied to commissioner Bud Selig two years ago and has not gotten a formal response.

 

``It's only been two years. He's got a lot of things on his mind,'' Rose said.

 

Selig has indicated he does not intend to reinstate Rose.

 

Gray then suggested Rose should perhaps take a different approach by admitting guilt. Rose said, ``You say it hasn't worked, what do you mean?''

 

Rose seemed surprised by Gray's approach, likening it to a ``prosecutor's brief.''

 

``You know, I'm surprised you're bombarding me with this,'' he said. ``I'm here to do an interview with you on a great night, a great occasion. You're bringing up something that happened 10 years ago.''

The best part of that whole interview was what happened afterwards when he was trying to interview some of the guys (I think during the playoffs) and none of the players would talk to him because of the questions he had asked Rose during the All Star game. I thought that was awesome. I think he's a snivelling little weasel that needs a "Jim Everett-Jim Rome" type of moment. I bet this guy has a Rory Sabbatini-sized ego about his rep in the business.

the daly comments just seemed bush league and he was talking to chad campbell like he was the 150th ranked player on tour just lucky to survive being in tigers presence. the look on campbells face was priceless you can tell he wasn't too pleased and probably wanted to just walk away right there. the guy makes jerry springer look like dan rathers

Yea quite a few players boycotted him because of the stupidity of his comments to Rose. I'm kinda upset I missed this interview in question, I watched the entire coverage of the WGC today. But honestly, I don't think he's the worst reporter, as long as Geraldo still is with Fox!

No, it isn't just you. Jim Gray is the most useless interviewer in golf, he is always trying to be the story by asking these ridiculous pointed questions. I would love to see all professional athletes walk right by that guy and give him nothing, I wonder how long he would be employed then!

Completely agree, Gray is terrible, and why would anyone still employ this guy. I was watching at the time the JD question happened and couldn't believe it. I really wish Faldo/Zinger would have laid into him on the air!!!

 

Hats off to JD for keeping his composure. One of these days, Gray is going to ask a pointed question to someone who doesn't have this kind of control, and he's going to get decked !!!! Hope I'm around to see it.

I totally agree with everything you guys are saying. He is a chump! Probably one of those guys who was the last kid picked in the playground and now has a grudge against everyone. I too thought the Chad Campbell interview was brutal, yeah he beat the #1 player in the world over 18 holes......he also beat him over 72 holes when he won the Tour Championship a few years ago.

 

I did not see the Daly interview but from the sounds of it from you guys, I can imagine how it went.

 

The guy is a LOSER..........They must have stuck him on golf b/c they didnt think he could do any more damage.........Hopefully he wont be around very long.

I agree 100%. I've never like his interviews, no matter what sport. I remember when the Bulls were in their 2nd three peat run, and after winning the title, Jim's first question to any of the Bull's players or Phil Jackson was if they would be back with the team. I mean come on, they just won a title and he wants to get the drop on the story of players returning or not. Count me in on that list of people waiting for Jim to get his after asking these stupid questions at inappropriate times. :aggressive:
