Crabby, in all fairness to Ms. Creamer, the runway shot was taken from a very low angle. That dress probably didn't look that short to her in a full-length mirror, and probably wouldn't appear to be that short to anyone taller than she. The runway is the height it is to emphasize the models' legs and hemline differences between seasons in the fashion world.

 

But that is why the LPGA MUST educate their players about this stuff. They should be aware of the affect on their images -- both the Tour and the individual player. If Paula Creamer saw those shots and the commentary here, do you think she would be happy about the reactions? Probably not, IMO. There's too much in endorsement dollars at stake. Not to mention the perceptions carrying forward into her private life.

 

IMO, the LPGA Tour has a responsibility to its players to make them aware of these factors. Very few parents understand the scrutiny these women will undergo if they make it to the LPGA stage. There's really no way they could adequately prepare their children for this life. (For that matter, the only parents I know of who did prepare their child properly for all the media attention were Tiger's parents.) PR people can do excellent work at image control, or they can be careless flacks who bask in reflected attention. The LPGA can afford the former, and can absolutely NOT afford the latter. They need their head of PR to look at these faux pas and learn from them, so that they aren't repeated. I realize that this gala took place in Singapore. But is that a reason not to look up the best portrait/wedding/event photographer in Singapore to do the photos, rather than ask the Tour's action photographers to do the job? How much would an excellent makeup artist have cost? How much time would it have taken to have the women wear daytime makeup for the photo shoot, and then redo their own makeup for evening wear? (Electronic flash is the color of noon daylight; evening makeup looks false and overdone when photographed with electronic flash rather than incandecent lighting. Hear that, Natalie and Paula?)

 

All it would take is a couple of pros in these fields to come in for a couple of hours and talk about it in a players' meeting. And it wouldn't cost much.

 

BTW, I'm NOT volunteering. I've retired from that field, except for close friend's children's weddings.

that dress is too short.....for the occasion that she is wearing it, IMO. it's totally fine for rocking a club.....but the HSBC Gala? Sorry...but no. She looks fantastic in it....but a poor choice.

For this occasion I do agree that is the wrong dress, in fact I think it should've been a single strap at least, but she does look good despite the shoes :russian_roulette: . Oh well, I think its time to get back to whats important. who is gonna win the Kraft Nabisco? one month to go

It's not the straplessness, IMO (although most women spend a lot of time visibly pulling a dress like that up, because they fear it falling). It's the shortness of it. Paula has FABULOUS legs, and the dress sure shows them off -- but when a woman wears a short dress and FMPs to a corporate event, she is sending absolutely the wrong message.

 

Paula's still young. She'll learn, hopefully not the hard way, by losing corporate sponsors who may be concerned about just what she might wear next to their corporate event.

 

BTW, when my daughter was growing up, my friends were surprised that I allowed her to wear some short/revealing junior sized outfits. My attitude was that she was only going to be able to do that for a limited time, so have fun. But she also worked lights with me on weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs, and I made a conscious effort to point out to her what was appropriate and what was not, and to explain why.

btw Paula is top class. very friendly and accommodating to fans. even when the cameras aren't looking. i'm tired of hearing commentators say how friendly & nice Lorena is. fact is, she's not anywhere close to Paula. Lorena just knows what to do for the camera.

 

I wasn't a Paula fan till i saw how kind she was to fans in real life last year.

Never thought I'd say this, but Natalie Gulbis does NOT look good in these pictures.. wow. It is neat to see them in a different setting, though.
