I have an idea members lets set an attendance record. On Monday March 20th ( the first day of spring) At 5pm est lets see if we can get 1500 members here at the website at one time. Our previous record is a little over 1200 members online at one time.

What I'm asking of you is tell your friends and fellow members to be here at 5pm est Monday March 20th

You are correct that it has no real meaning. It won't save the world and time won't stop. Taking a snipe at Terry's actions doesn't seem to nice either. He's helping to try to bring exposure to the site and that help builds the community and make it better. Some people like to think globally in the me and only me world. :lol:

At the very least, it gives the administration and opportunity to do a performance test on the server with real-time concurrent usage. Using your numbers 1200 vs 1500 is a 25% increase which is quite significant in server threads.....If you don't want to be logged on at that time viewing threads, then don't, it's your choice.

This site is great and more exposure can only help. I care how many people are on because that shows that more are taking part in the sharing done here. I'll be on on March 20th if I'm blessed to do so, and happy to be on.

Thanks Everyone, The thought process behind this is the more members we have and the more that are online at one time it will give the owners of the site a bargaining chip to go to prospective golf sponsors. With more golf sponsors hooked up with this site the more discounts that could be made available to the membership. Along with more prizes for the various contests that the site hosts.

 

Its one thing to say we have 13,000 members but to say 1500 are using it at one time is a feather in the cap of the website and can be a useful tool.

 

As Demolition mentioned it will also provide useful inforamtion regarding the capacity of the site and its functionablity. As we continue to grow that will be an issue.

The idea and intent is good. However the server response time might be pretty awful and could possible crash the server.

 

 

Peak is over 1200 over 120 min period now. 1500 should not be a problem and we can shorten the time period....

Well we didn't set any records but it was worth a try. I'm sure we will break the old record in time. All in all I guess if we just keep showing up and posting and letting our friends know about Golfwrx it will continue to grow and beocme even better.
