Which balls are you specifically comparing. Right now I have last years TM TP Red LDP, This years Pro v1x and the new Nike One Tour D in my bag. I have a tournament coming up in a few weeks (scramble) and am trying to figure out which ball to play.

I can help I think, because these are the balls that I have toyed with lately.

The new Pro v1x is a GREAT ball. It's more durable in terms of gashing with a wedge than 2007. It spins less off the driver. Somehow, it still spins a lot into the green. Like, I hit a 4 iron to an uphill green yesterday and it was within 3 feet of the pitch mark.

The partial wedge spin is 1 notch less than the 2007 version, but still excellent. The putter feel is great in my opinion. The ball feels light and solid off the face.

The TM Red LDP will help your long game, no doubt about it. It's long and the LDP technology is the real deal. In my opinion, I don't see how you can beat this ball tee to green. It's like magic.

My problem is around the green it just does not spin as much as most premium balls. If the x is an 8 on wedge spin, the LDO would be like a 4-5.

Now, if you clamp down on your irons the Red is a great ball. It is LONG and has a great feel.

It's just missing spin around the green.

The Tour D is a great ball, very similar to the new V1x. Nike has a winner on their hands with this ball.

To me, the best all around ball that gives me confidence from tee to green is the v1x. They made it more durable which was my big gripe about the 2007 version.

Also, I am in love with the Srixon Z-star.

The v1x will hold greens for you, so if you are playing tough greens I would not recommend the TM red.

I went out for a quick 9 holes today and played the new Prov1x, well I am very impressed. This ball will be getting another go around and just might be back in the bag for me!!!

Anybody else loving this ball

I've been playing it all year and love it. I grabbed some sleeves of Nike One Black and some Titleist NTX Extreme's the other day and went to the practice facility. Prov1x will continue to be in my bag after some pitching/chipping/putting. Several folks have recommended trying the Nike One Vapor and the Bridgestone E6+ or E5+ which I may get around to later this year. But for now I'm sticking with the V1x.

Well I just got back, I was comparing the TP Black to the Prov1x 09, a little history, the Tp black was the longest ball for me out of the B330, Tour ix, TP Red, 07 prov1x. The 2009 prov1x is about the same in distance maybe a yard or two longer than the TP Black, spin is about the same(definately less than the 07 prov1x), durability is the same, and feel is hands down to the prov1x. So after all of that I give the nod to the 2009 Prov1x, I am so glad the lowered the spin some, I am back to the Prov1x ball....................

I used to use the ProV1x, new and older version.. i can still cut both of them.. and they both still spin off the greens on approaches..

I now use that Srixon ZStar, and I love it! Much more durable.. less spin, but still plenty, and more stable in the wind. The ZStar is also really soft off the putter. Give it a try..

But yes, I agree the new ProV1x is good, the ZStar is better.

I played with the ProV1x yesterday and found them to be long off the tee and plenty of spin into and around the greens. Great ball with one major catch. They are not durable just like the last version. My Vokey wedges chew them up. All it takes is one or two shots with the vokey and the ball has major scarring. Too bad because it played real well.

ProV1x seem to be good balls up until you hit a full wedge shot, the Spin Mills that I have seem to

put a nice bite mark on the ball every time. Try the Z.Star by Srixion, they seem to have the same

characteristics as the Prov1x but more durable.

Confirms my finding. I use the Vokey Spin Milled wedges and got the same results.

I can attest to this also. I did play the 08 proV1x but got tired of tearing up the cover with my wedges so went to a little more durable ball in the TP LDP Red ball. I love the ball tee to green but when the greens get a little hard from lack of watering, I cant hold the greens so pretty much have to run the ball onto the green. Now when the greens are soft (which is very rarely) I can spin them back and hold the green. But on my home course I will use the TP LDP Red ball and other courses I may break out a proV1x.

I found a TP Red on the course and I couldn't stop it either. It had no spin. I liked the feel and performance off the driver but bought 2 doz (TP BLACKS) for $55 because I was looking for a more durable daily ball to play. I still love the performance of the Nike One Tour but I was going through so many balls that I had to have something that lasted more than 9 holes. The TP Black has a great compromise of spin, distance but it is a touch firm for my feel. Durability is better than the Nike One Tour but they will still tear up. I have played 36 holes from one ball but should have changed it out after 18. For those of you who don't like the spin on the TP Red try the TP Black. It is a world of difference.

Just ordered 12 dozen boxes. Absolutely love the the new v1x. I usually put any scuffed balls in the used ball pocket and pull out a new one anyway, so durability isn't one of my top considerations.

Nice, I did the same thing, i was lucky enough to get them at $36 a box.... Infact I recieved them today, each box came with a ball marker.. This ball is the real deal, for me no other ball beats the new 2009 Prov1x(that I have tried and I tested alot)

That's a great price. I had to pay full price + logo, so I could write them off as "marketing"....

Can somebody help with the Pro V1 comparisons: slower swing speeds which ball is better for the Pro V1 or the x. I am playing the Nike One Vapor and having success. thanks.

The X in a ball means higher swing speed. Calloway Tour iX, ProV1x, Srixon Z-StarX, etc.

can anyone tell me how the 2009 Bridgestone B330 RX plays compared to the pro v1x?? I have been offered a box as an inducement to buy something and want to know ho wit compares to my gamer

I'm not sure about the 330 RX, but I've hit every ball known to man, and I find the B330 has a duller feel, the Titleist has a bit more "pop" to it (just a little). Hitting them both, I'd say the B330 may have more sidespin, maybe more spin total. The putting favors the ProV1, but only slightly. Basically, it's all up to your personal taste. Obviously, the B-330RX will have a softer compression than the ProV1x.

[The X in a ball means higher swing speed. Calloway Tour iX, ProV1x, Srixon Z-StarX, etc.]

............................

Yes, the 'x' is for higher spin, but if you're swing speed is a bit slower, I would still suggest you try them. In my case, I order Mint 07 V1's and there was one 07 V1x in by mistake. I'd played an old v1x model before and it was 'really hard' for my feel tastes, but thought I'd try it just the same, as last year I bought a dozen TP LDP Blacks and really liked them, just a tad bit firm feeling.

To make a long story a bit shorter, I was absolutely shocked :beruo: at how comparatively soft the v1x felt compared to what I remembered the older model I had played felt. What was equally surprising to me was that the ball was always bit longer (up to 5 to 7 yards) than the v1 I was playing side by side (same distance I found with short irons though), and another benefit I found was that due to 4 piece construction, of course there was less spin (side spin) of the driver, so it went, on average, much straighter, less impacted by the wind than the v1, with slighter draws and fades, vs. somewhat bigger draws and fades. All this equals= better side wind resistance + greater distance + shorter grass = :good: :man_in_love: . Yes, the ball (for me) is a hit, stop, roll a teeny bit, drop and stop, but for equates to a more controllable ball to pitch with -- as times with the v1, I would stop and check it dead, while other times it would roll, and I have had trouble with me being really consistent with the v1 on 25 yrds and in, while the x1 I can play more consistently with a bit of roll.

Until someone makes a ball that feels and plays tee to greeen like the ldp Red, with the green side check and spin of the v1x, then the v1x is the closest thing to perfect ball for me.

Like I said, my SS isn't in the 'X' category; (it's approx. 98 with the driver); (index is 4.9); so don't be shy to give them a try ;) .
