Sonocaddie V300 GPS @ Dicks $249

Hello,

 

I have been debating on getting a GPS and comparing the different models. Well yesterday I saw the Sonocaddie V300 at Dicks for $249. This unit was at the top of my list so I decided to buy it. I believe they have them on clearance. On thing I like about the unit it that you can remark the greens and hazard if they are not correct from the download plus you can add additional items to the course.

Yes thats what the website showed last night and I intended on buying one at that price. When I called my Dicks store they had one left and it was priced new at $249. I would call your local store to check.

I stopped by my local Dicks and they were still marked $399.99, but I had the guy price check it and sure enough it was $249.97, you could tell he was very surprised it had dropped so much.

Interesting, I called the local Dicks and they said $399, didn't know anything about a sale. I didn't ask him to price check it...he was kinda rude about it now that I think about it. Maybe I will call again.

I actually called my store first and the lady that finally answered said they did not sell them. I knew they did so I just drove over and saw they had them and asked the guy in the golf area price check it. I would not doubt when you called they just looked at the price tag, I would ask them to scan it to see if it was on sale.

I called my "Dicks" and I was able to talk to the "pro". He said he didn't hear about any sale and I asked him if he could scan the # and sure enough it came up as $249.00!

He had one left so I grabbed it.

It is an un-advertised sale. Don't know why. Make sure you have them scan the #, it's the only way it comes up with the sale price.

I got mine on Sunday.

 

Turned out the only one left was the display model, so I got 20% off the sale price of $249.

I got one at dicks a few weeks back for that price. I was told they are replacing their product line in the store, the guys thought they are going to only sell the autoplay.

I think I got the last one in the Twin Cities yesterday afternoon at the Rosedale store. A placard in the store listed it at $249.97 as a "Clearance" price. $10 coupon knocked it down to $256.17 including tax.

It looks great! Going tomorrow to give it a test run. Hope it performs like it looks! Was really wanting the guru, but may have made a great decision here. Will let all know my 1st day review.

Okay just posted a response to Phil on another thread that has some similarities to this info but not as detailed. I just used my v300 for the first time and I must say...WOW. Very impressed. Really didn't even NEED the backlight in the sun! Aerial view of each hole was beautiful and accurate! The scorecard feature was great, and the stats analysis was pleasingly helpful. Even though it pretty much told me what I already knew... I suck! LOL. I'll give you one- I only hit 42% of the fairways. Anyway, the shot tracker feature was amazing to see. It even has one that shows your entire path on the hole. (Lots of circles in a golf cart!) Loved the shot distance that shows how far you are hitting them. And adding/editing targets is a cinch. You can also add a target that is called "layup". I can even upload my course stats/score/info each round into my own folder on the sono website for future review/comparison. Now for the shortcomings... There is no smart green feature that changes position of the green according to your position. So, if you are on the right side of the green, in the rough, the distance reading you get is the original front and original back of the green. These distances ARE accurate, but if you cannot estimate your distance using these two readings from a position like this, then you might want to pick another hobby/sport. Just kiddin'. Really, its not a big deal. If the green is reading 45yds to the front and 53 yds to the back, I just imagine 49yds. to the center of the green. If the pin is located original left greenside, add some yards/original right greenside, subtract some yards. I can positively say I will need a wedge! If you can put the ball on the exact pin every time, or most of the time, for that matter, you may want to call the PGA and sign up tomorrow! Bottom line is that common sense rules. One other thing that I wish the v300 had is auto hole advancement. But once you pick the hole, just click right on the main overhead hole view screen to advance to the next hole. To me, these are minor things for the amount of things this unit provides! As a matter of fact, there are just too many things that I can do with this unit so I'm taking it back so I can get back to just golfing! :lol: NOT! Please feel free to post your experiences and thoughts (positive or negative) and maybe tricks and features you want to share. Yes, I've read all of the threads on this subject already, but new user info is always welcome.

Either way, I 'm pretty sure it was going to be an automatic 25% more off. And the cashier actually had to override the system manually to ring it up like that. Per her manager. :secret:

The other Dick's didn't have the same deal.

I just picked one up at Dicks. I got the 229 price plus 50% of and a aditional 10% off because it was the display modle. All told I payed 108 including tax. If you want this unit get to Dicks they are going fast.

Great! I picked up one this morning at Dick's on clearance for 89.00 plus tax. That was with a hefty discount for last one....

Well man, you guys are making my deal look mediocre. Great pick up guys!

The only downside is, I guess the v300 won't be carried at many retailers, and if the autoplay becomes the de facto unit, I hope sonocaddie still stays up with mapping courses.

 

As long as they at least get most courses mapped with the basics, I'll add my own targets, since we all have our own way of playing.

 

Pretty tough to beat a sub $150 unit including all fees that has all these features!

Was at Dick's today, and they had 1 left. I wonder if I can take mine back and get more discount? The v300 is still going for $349-$399 everywhere else. I think Dick's is phasing them out of their inventory, and don't see this as a threat from sonocaddie. You guys are making my $185 great deal seem like I was cheated. :fool:

i went first thing this morning and they were out!!!!! except for the display!!! i told them to take it down and ring that bad boy up!!! 114.99 minus a 15% discount for being the display!!!!! i would have never known about this if it wasn't for you guys!!! WRX is awesome!!! thanks guys!!!! :drinks:
