Lots of Pics (and **OUTDATED** bag)

Just thought I'd share the tools I'm using at this point. As the title states, there is still work to be done... This being my first season really getting into golf seriously, it's taking a little time figuring out what works for me and what doesn't. After 18 years of playing baseball consistently (and golf only 3-4 times a summer), I started the year using a baseball swing to hit a golf ball. Playing at least once a week this summer, I've gotten the swing turned into what I like to think, and what some have said, is a pretty decent golf swing. Of course, this also necessitated some changes in equipment, as my needs were different. I've made some of the changes already, and some are still in process.

So here's my current bag, including some pics... (I didn't get pics of everything yet...ran out of time...will post as I get them)

Driver: Ping Rapture V2 9° head digitally lofted to 10°, stock Diamana Blueboard 63 Stiff @ 44.75"




Woods: Tour Edge Exotics Cb1 16.5°, Grafalloy Epic S (tipped 1")

Titleist 3 woods set up a little open if you want to avoid hooks, and are easily workable. Might look at their hybrids as well.

I think the irons give great feedback. You aren't left questioning where you made contact on the club face, but still get some pretty decent forgiveness. Strike it well, and the feel is AWESOME! These are fairly new for me, but I love them!

Nice bag. No sand wedge? I never could get into the ping insert putters... I hope it makes a lot of putts for you though...

It's getting there... I'm liking things much better than the "hand-me-down, Wal-Mart" set I started out the year with! Thanks for the suggestion on Titleist as well. I'll have to give them a look.

I know...I am DEFINITELY needing a sandwedge! I had one in my previous iron set, but was left without when I just recently got the Bridgestone irons. Way to big of gap between my PW and the 60° right now! Too much guess work judging distance haha! (Although I've done pretty well with it my first two full rounds!) I'm strongly considering some Scratch wedges. A 53° for the SW, and a 60° to replace my current.

As for the putter, I love it so far...most likely because [i]it[/i] has been making putts! I'm sure once [i]it[/i] starts missing, I'll be wanting a Scotty or something

Well... Just hit it closer so you don't need a sand wedge... haha. When she stops making putts, take a look at Byron Channel Island.

My 906 sits open if you just set it on the ground. I was under the impression that the 909 series was the same but I have been known to be wrong!

Birdies, you can't go too wrong with Scratch. I have one of their 8620 wedges and for $99 it's the best deal out there. They have 53* and 60* in several grinds.

I started with a Walmart set as well (John Daly clubs). I replaced them all one at a time until I had a 'real set'. Good way to go IMO.

id prolly look at a new shaft for the 3 wood, tfc is super high torque but in most cases it seems to play a little soft

Finally got a few more pics up. Added 3 wood and putter pics. I'm searching for a new hybrid also. The change I'm most excited about, however, is the wedge section. I just recently ordered a couple Scratch wedges! 1018 53° & 60° D/S grinds. Stock KB Tour shafts, Golf Pride NDMC grip in green, with paintfill to match the grip. Unfortunately, Scratch has the 53° D/S grind 1018s on order from Japan, but they haven't received them yet, so that one is on hold for a bit. My 60° will be shipping tomorrow, though!!! I can't wait to receive the wedges!

The weather has taken a downturn recently, and the long term forecast doesn't make it look too promising for me to get out again before winter fully sets in , but I'm crossing my fingers for at least one "odd" day so I can test them out. Otherwise, I could be stuck testing them in the house until spring, trying not to break anything!

Very nice. I'd agree with the G10 3 wood swapout. That thing snaps em left like no ones business.

look at maybe a mizuno hybrid.
Either CLK Fli Hi of MP Fli Hi. That would give you a decent gap covered in there. Also, both can be had for cheap and are Stellar hybrids!

Just updated my WITB. This is what I will end '09 and start '10 with... My new favorite club(s) is/are my newest club(s), my new Scratch wedge(s)! I now know why almost everyone here raves about them!

Thanks Puppetmaster! I'm pretty happy with everything I've got! I must say I'm a little surprised you are fond of the putter, since you have the Scotty. I've drooled over pictures of the Del Mar 3.5, but I guess I can't complain too much with the Piper the way it's been rolling!

Birdies. you have a nice set there for just getting back into golf.
My friend has been playing golf since he was 2 (he is around 16 now), he still has to use taylormade tour burner blades from 1992
He is gettin some bridgestones tho

I like any well designed, heel-shafted putter, especially ones that have descended from the old TPA XVIII design, and I think that Piper is really nice (I've rolled a couple putts with it here and there in the local GG). What also makes it attractive to me is the price, IMO it is good feel and performance for the money compared with other higher priced versions like the TM Maranello, Odyssey Black/White #9, Rife Abaco, and of course, the Del Mar 3.5.
