Berkshires - What courses are worth driving a bit to play?

I'll be in the Berkshires this weekend. I was thinking about making the 90 minute drive to Crumpin-Fox since it's ranked one of the best in the state. Just wondering if it's worth the ride. I was also considering the Ranch which is almost as long a drive. Taconic has 18 temporary greens right now. That's unheard of. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Crumpin-Fox is a beautiful place. It's tight and tough but very good value.

Taconic renovated the course in 2009 and it's back to being in great shape. A must play.

Berkshire Hills is good and you can get on there, just have your local pro call over and they should accommodate.

Wahconah is fun and you probably also need the pro to call over. No big deal.

Stockbridge is also good. Wyantenuck is pretty good but a bit goofy.

What no love for Taconic?
Taconic is a great track, play it if you get the chance. I wouldn't go all the way to Crumpin Fox, there are better places to play around Pittsfield. Bershire Hills is OK, Wyantenuck is pretty good, but Taconic is the best by far.

Taconic is very nice, and has some history

Taconic offers terrific greens (when not utilizing temps) and a sense of history, but the layout is OK at best. I wouldn't travel to play it.
Crumpin is original and challenging and certainly worth a trip.

But, that's just my 2 cents.

I play Taconic twice a year with my uncle. Great course especially since the renovation, needs a full time driving range.

I am playing Waubeeka also in Williamstown on Friday, a former Williams College Grad purchased it and dumped a bunch of $$ into it. It was also completely renovated last year or 2 years ago. I will let you know how it looks.

I've been eager to get out there this year and they are running a special $40 M-Thr, $48 Fri-Sun all day play with cart! Check out the link, if nothing else it is an incredibly scenic course!

Crumpin Fox was OK, but I'm not sure how they were consistently rated in the top 5 in Mass that you can play.
It didn't help that we got paired with a couple of yahoo's that were wearing jeans, walked on our putting lines, and generally were just donkeys.
