Can't go wrong with a set of Apex Plus - Hogan forged clubs second only to Mizuno IMO. The Apex Plus heads feel heavy and there is fair degree of offset (to my eye anyway) on this set, but they are really solid clubs. Obviously an older model now and most second hands will have the Apex shaft (plays a bit softer to me than equivalent Dynamic Gold e.g. Apex 4 to S300 is the equivalent but the A4 plays more like an R400). Often see a second hand set in the racks here and there. Still a good solid purchase, offering good feel, trajectory and distance.

I have played the Apex Plus and it is a good choice. Also, strongly consider the Hogan Apex Edge Pro. I've played Hogan a long time, and the Pro is way up there at the top for forged feel and forgiveness.

Good Luck!

YOU GOT THAT RIGHT! I had AEP's for 4 years, and regrettably sold them. They are a fine set of irons at a great price these days. The only reason I sold them was I had too many irons in the house!

Another vote for getting them. I have played ben hogan grind blades until I switched to the pros. I liked them because they do give me feed back on mishits. I'm a totally feel player and the feel is the most important thing to me. Mine are shafted with 6.5 rifles and I hit them into the stratosphere with great distance. I did not loose distance going to these from my blades.

Hey,

Have you seen the new Hogan Apex Edge irons that have just been released ?

How come nobody talks about these new Apex Edge irons - they are supposedly the succesor to the Apex Edge Pro irons and they look great, but can't understand why they don't get more attention :)

The new APEX EDGE irons look great, but they do cost alot. The old APEX EDGE+ are great clubs. I still have them and they are so easy to hit, yet they are solid. They are forged, so they feel very soft, but the shafts are really soft. If you regular flex you should go for stiff.

I would recommend the APEX PRO if you are a solid ball striker. They are less forgiving than the APEX EDGE +. I got my APEX EDGE+ for $230 on EBAY about 9 out of 10 condition. Just cheap wellmade clubs. CAn't go wrong.
