If possible I have a set of ping anser forged the 5 and 6 iron are serial 1m1401 and 7-p are 90870x I would love to know the specs so I can have them set to same lie thank you in advance for the help

These serial #s are from 2 different sets (and 2 diff accounts) so someone has cobbled them together.

Yes they were SSx2

The 7 iron is listed separate due to a repair request for color code change from blue to black and a reshaft due to length - that is what is in the notes.

I've installed dozen of grips through the years on my golf equipment. The following is my sad encounter........

I recently purchased a new G400 LST serial number 209969DL (I did not order it) from Van's Golf Store. For 2 weeks now I've been wondering why it just didn't feel right to me and I finally discovered (using my grip size gauge) that although the grip was supposed to be standard size it was really oversize ++ especially at the butt end.

So I cut the grip off (Ping standard Golf Pride Round) and found the worst tape job I've ever seen (the standard shaft by the way is a .620 butt). The first few inches up were spiral wrapped and then wrapped again using a non spiral 2" inch tape. The remainder had 3 wraps of tape which looked like the person doing it didn't know what they were doing or was just trying to get the quota due that day out door.

I replaced the tape, bought a new grip, and used the correct procedure to make it come out standard size.

I thought PING was known for their quality and I realize all major manufacturers make mistakes, but this wasn't a mistake IMO. It was a "don't give a sh*t job". Perhaps some one could tell when and where this driver was assembled by the serial number above.

I regret not going with the 2017 M2 which I had in my hand but decided to go with the Ping G400 after all the positive write-ups I've read.

To make matter worse I also bought the G400 3 wood at the same time and when I removed the grip (which also measured oversize) I found the tape job wasn't quite as bad but not good. However, I also noticed the butt end of the shaft was damaged (apparently when it was being cut to length).

I replaced the tape and grip.

Ping - I'm through with you if you're reading this. Hopefully there won't be anything wrong with the head.

Buyer be aware!

Sure going to a lot of bother to blame Ping for a poor tape job. I will guarantee you that Ping doesn't have even a clue what 2" tape looks like. You won't find it in their assembly area, and you won't likely find it in any Ping plant outside of Phoenix. They exclusively use 1" tape, spiral wrapped on everything that they do.

Plus the OD on the Alta shaft is .602" so I don't know what shaft or how you measured, but that's what it is.

Maybe you should be looking at someone at Van's Golf for the shite work done instead of blaming Ping in your misguided rant. Yes, buyer should be aware, but maybe beware of someone at Van's.

Van's had nothing to do with the situation, they did not assemble the club.

BTW - The OD on the Alta 55 shaft is .620. There is no such thing as a .602 OD shaft. Are you dyslexic? Your creditability is in question.

I'll agree my post was kind of a rant which brings out folks like you. I should know better.

a) Wrong attitude to take with someone who has done nothing but help folks in this thread get information on clubs they're buying or have bought

b) Wrong thread to complain about Ping quality/craftsmanship

c) Maybe take a chill pill before composing your next rant

You bought it off the shelf at Van's. You have no idea whether some other person had it and had the grip built up. I will guarantee you Ping didn't build up the grip like that. Done post Ping factory.

I actually went downstairs and measured a Ping Alta shaft butt with a digital capliper. It measured .602". The say it is .600 and I gave you an actual measurement. There is no way it is an Alta 55 shaft measuring .620".

So, no I'm not dyslexic nor is my credibility in question. Your's is.

I didn't come to your thread. You came to this one. Your rant is not welcome here. Go somewhere else.
