Ping Dalehead Anser....bit of a dog, what should I do??? Open to ideas!!

I purchased this Dalehead anser from a guy before Christmas on Ebay. It arrived and the shaft was loose...no probs easy to sort and what looks like a poor attempt at a refurb.

 

I was refunded a few bob for the reshaft etc so in all it cost me £35 which isnt bad.

 

What I would like to know are peoples opinions on giving it a full refurb grinding out all the dings and maybe giving it the guyson type finish?

 

It also needs reshafting but can I find the same shaft in the UK?? can I hell!! I have some fluted tt shafts on the way so may use one of those or an old scotty newport shaft.

 

Also, the finish on the sole already looks to have been blasted instead of tumbled. I thought that this finish was a newish thing from Ping?

 

And finally any ideas of the age of this thing?

I think it's current condition is pretty cool and if you're planning on gaming wouldn't change it. But, if it's gonna bother you I could see a simple refinish being a plausible action and ultimately not hurting its value.

That putter is not a dog...it's rustic.

The face is quite bad which is not obvious from the pics. Not even very flat, where the previous owner had taken somekind of abrasive to it. Rustic is the word, unfortunately I dont do rustic!!

The only thing that bothers me about refurbing it is that the ping and anser will virtually disappear. I could always stamp it back on but it wouldnt be the same.

Can Ping do a refinish? That's what I would do..

It'll look infinitely better if it's allowed to darken and devolop a proper patina..

I looked at lumpy's guide, and that sure as heck doesn't look like a dalehead to me.....just sayin.....

You're right, it is not a dalehead. The 029 dalehead has curved bumpers. To the op, sorry to
rain on your parade.

This is a dalehead actually with a rocker sole. From what I have been told Ping made a flat sole and a rocker sole after they moved from Scottsdale to Phoenix. I have also, compared it to my collection of Scottsdale ansers and it is the same casting.
From a little bit of research I came accross this site

The picture on the right is an original scottsdale anser and the one on the left is what I have (maybe the photo I posted earlier is not the best angle)

From these two pics it can be seen that mine is therefore a dalehead casting.
