Of course there is nothing better in golf than to hit a bad ball into the weeds; only to find a new Titleist! Some of my old memories are of the1960's playing Royals, Kroydon, Spaulding and Arnold Palmer with the colored umbrella etc.

The best ball of all time was the Wilson Staff ball that had the Red and Black Racing Flags as their logo. I made my first birdie with one.

We did not have the money for balls back then so we spent part of each day looking for ammo in the bushes and muddy ponds on the muni where I learned to play. If they were cut I often spent alot of time unwinding the rubber strings found on the inside. I was told at the time that the liquid centers were made of some deadly poison. I have often wondered what was that stuff anyway.

Back in the day there were many different brands and it was a joy to see who could collect the most of different brands. I wish I could remember more names.

P.S. Has anynyone ever hit a PO-DO? Now that was an experience!

I was just given 2 dozen "Black Max" balls brand new in original boxes. I had never heard of them until now. A friend got them at a yard sale for $5 a dozen. Looks like a deal:clapping:

I've been trying to finish up the 3 Callaway HX Hot balls that I have in my bag. The problem is I never lose them, so I keep them. However, I just realized since I'm not losing them, they must be finding more fairways. So my vote goes to the Callaway HX Hot golf balls!

I hit my best shots with the Maxfli Revolution. Yes they turned yellow but they were more durable than the other high spin balls of the time. They had good distance and an extreme amount of spin.

The Tour Edition was a super spinner.

Maxfli HT was also a big winner back in the day.

As a junior I loved the "starflight" balls..... You had to click several of them on your driver to find the one with the highest "ping". It was the hardest and longest of them all!

I don't know why, but I've never played a ball that I loved more than the Titleist DT 2-Piece. I've actually been able to find quite a few of them in new condition at flea markets and on eBay so I still play them quite often actually.

favorite of all time would have to be the NXT dot Tour in the all black box. Precept U-Tri Tour ranks right up there. Seems like I used to like the Dunlops that had the red dot surrounded by blue back in the day and also the Wilson K-28 but that was when I could put a smile on a ball on a regular basis. Someone mentioned a Molitor and my hands started stinging again just from the thought.
