Does anyone know when the Hogan Leader irons were introduced?

Resurrection time!

Leader Irons were produced in 1983 and 1984 (to answer your question from three years ago lol).

There is a set of Leaders on UK eBay right now if anyone is interested.

Found a set of Hogan Apex in my garage I had picked up a few years ago at a pawnshop in College Station Tx. Was there for a week and had no clubs with me.
When I returned home my youngest son had begun to show some promise with the game and I didn't want him to get ruined with all the GI stuff that was the rage, so I had them bent 2 degrees flat and shorten them up to his height. Best thing I ever did for his game. Anyway, found them and thanks to this thread was able to date them as 92 model Apex.
Now, that I found them again I would like to have them reshafted, without spending a lot of money. I have a couple of sets I bought with good DGS300 shafts that were purchased so I could use the shafts as needed.
So, Hogan dudes I could use the shaft specs for these to see if they are comparable before I go tinkering.
Thanks in advance.

Apex irons should be 0.355" taper tips. If you don't know whether your donor sets are taper or parallel tip - you may be able to use this for reference ( http://www.golfworks.com/article.asp_Q_ai_E_376 )

Assuming the originals were Apex shafted, DG replacements will be heavier - TT Dynalites were always considered the closest match for (if not in fact the same as) the Apex shaft.

Are the shafts currently pinned in the hosels? That's a hassle I'd prefer not to have to deal with - especially if I could get away with using extenders rather than reshafting.

It pains me to say it, but it's probably a false economy unless the heads have some special value to you - or you can find someone who'll drill out the pins or pull the shafts for much cheaper than a full re-shaft service. Maybe you can find an unsuspecting semi-pro/semi-hobbyist repair guy locally who might be lured into quoting cheaply for this. Inexperience might be your friend and ally here.

The pins on Hogans are a real pain. Their one great value is that they make repairs such a headache that I'm constantly on my guard against bad behaviour and tantrums with mine. I've had woods suffer a bit of collateral damage in the past, but I've never thrown one of those awkward sods for fear of the repercussions.

The good news is, if you decide to tackle this yourself, you're probably not going to try and save the Apex shafts. That should make the pin removal much easier. I've never had to do this myself, but if you look around the clubmaking/repair boards - there are a fair few posts about how to tackle it.
