I am looking into gettin a set of these and I had a couple question I know you guys will be able to answer for me.. I hit these and they felt amazing.. There is little info around about these irons since they are Japaneese.. When were these models brought out? Are they fogiving? Is anyone playing them on tour>? Thanks guys!

Lance - check my review in the link above. I play these,a nd feel that they are the finest forged cavity back irons that I've ever owned or demoed. And - I demo EVERYTHING on the market, which goes to show how high my opinion of these irons is.

I'll give you the quick answer but I might be wrong, I'm thinking 2001 is when these irons first came out. The TourStage Z-101's are somewhat like the TM Tour 300 design of irons, they don't seem to lose their appeal and guys who still play them feel they are as solid as anything built today. A dayuum good design! ;)

I hit one yesterday and it felt soo solid.. I am demoing a set for a couple rounds this week.. They may be knockin my 735CM out of the bag..

The finest cavity forged irons for me and what Sam T said in his review. Not the most forgiving though but damn solid irons.

Parr1noid is not far off about 2001. More than a couple of years old for sure. Hard to find a new set now even around my area.

 

But that should not matter at all because they are very very sweet irons. The design is ageless.

 

True player cavity and not the most forgiving by any standard, just like Lion mentions.

Not quite that old...the Z101's were new when Appleby won the 2003 Mercedes Championship with them. (January of 2003).

im going to go with 2001 as that is when i received my set for being on their staff...great iron...love the compact look...hate the new longer look to the blades and players cavities that have been coming out in the last couple of years...i also got a set of the miura forged taylor made cb when they came out...have a hard time leaving the tourstages

I have hit both. For me the Z101s hands down for feel, looks, quality and performance. You'll be surprised how well matched the TS heads are. All the TM sets I have reshafted were all over the place in terms of weight and requires alot of tip weights to balance out the whole set.

Funny you should mention that but I took a set of TS-202's and put G. Loomis Tour Graphites in them and didn't even use anything for tip weights and they came out a steady D-2 all the way through. I do have to admit though, the TM rac cb's were not tip weighted either, I used TT Tri-Golds in them, and they came out D-3 pretty consistant throughout the set also. ;)

You guys are psychic. I'm getting rid of some of my back ups. I plan to ditch either a set of RAC CBs or Z101s. Then I will reshaft the keeper with DGSL300s.

I have been going over back and forth over the past two months. So which one should I keep?

i have both sets in play, alternating between the two...definately prefer the z101's, i have been giving the rac forged the benifit of the doubt for about 2 years now but always wander back to the z101...dont know anything about tip weighting, would love to hear what exactly it means???

Anyone know the stock specs on the Z101's and the tip diameter of the shafts?

Tip diameter is .355. Not sure of each lofts. I do remember that the lies are more upright than most OEM
