I own 2 rare scottys as investments for my kids. A santa fe and a callie are my current gamers, but I return now and again to my stainless Anser2, it is lighter than the others, but feels so right in my hands and allows a fuller pass through the ball. Yep, the teryllium is soft. Yep, the Callie is head heavy and rolls forever. BUT the Ping Anser 2 , ah good to have you back in the bag .....

 

What is your best Ping? and is it any match for the expensive tools...?????

I began my golf career with an Anser 2 Beryllium and putted with it for about 5 years then sold it to one of my high school teammates. I bought another one online but it never felt the same. You're right though they are pretty light, I had to throw a few pieces of lead tape on the bottom. Anser 2 Beryllium gets my vote.

I only recall I bought in in the mid 70's it had that cool slot on the sole It was beautiful but I found it to heavy and traded to a friend after several years for an acushnet bullseye that I would easily trade back for my Ping putter. My friend had the putter stolen about 3 years ago with his late 70's wilson staff irons.

Love my Ping i5 Craz-E Center Shafted. Made 3 bridie putts today and just missed 4 others. I tried the entire 2006 line-up before I settled on my Craz-E!!!!

 

It really depends on what you like, Mallet or Blade.

As far as headshapes go, the Anser 4 is very much my favorite. I try to come close with my other putters in terms of headshape too. I still pull it out and play it whenever my confidence gets high but always go running back for the heavier putters when the pressure is on. All that said, my favorite Ping in my collection is a BeCu Scottsdale (remake, of course). Patina is absolutely perfect and you cannot beat the headshape. 009 is an awesome putter, but you cannot top the original for staying power (or the remake of an orginal, you know what I mean ;) ).

PING ANZER 2. I've had it since my first day of golf. I still have it. Is it a good putter? Heck no - the head is ridiculously light. I've since stuck a whole load of lead tape on the back.

My Anser 4 feels better than any other putter I have. If I want something heavier, I go for my Anser 3

my first putter was a stainless anser 2 and used it for ~8 years, then I bought a scotty off eBay 6 years ago. I tried to like it but it just didn't feel right to me. after a few months I switched back to the anser for ~4 more years.

 

this time last year I played with couple guys who sucked in all other facets of the game, but kept sinking putts all day long. the next day I bought a 2-ball. wow. I use the white hot 2-ball most of the time and a dfx 2-ball for slow greens. The anser is still around, and still feels the best in my hands.

I switch between my Scotty Cameron Coronado 2 PP and my original Ping Anser. I always like the feel the sound slot gives in the ping.

Ping Anser F, limited edition, with the titanium pixels. It's the same putter DiMarco has used for years. Sweet stick with a great feel and nice look.

My Ping i5 Craz-E center shaft has really improved my putting (so far). Pretty happy with it at the moment, but things change like everyone knows.

I've got an old 029 Anser that I go back to every now and then to remind me what a REAL putter feels like...love that 7 3/4" first step...

 

I've had that damn thing for 30 someodd years and will NEVER get rid of it...

I have a few Ping Ansers ranging from old to new. Of them all, my two favorites are the nickel and the JAS Anser. The nickel mostly stays with the collection, but the JAS makes it way every so often in the bag.

My Ping Zing2 BeCu is my favorite putter of all-time, tried others but continue to go back to this one!

I love my Ally3. One of the few face balanced Pings that doesn't have a full offset shaft. I've got two just in case I ever lose/damage one of them.

 

But.... I just acquired a Rife 400 Mid Mallet that once I'm done tweaking to my specs, may just replace the Ally3 as my gamer.

Would have to be my Beryllium Zing 2. I really love old Pings but the simple head shape and beautiful finish of my Zing 2 make it true classic. I even have a black out Ping grip on it which looks great.

My favorite Ping would have to be the G2 Anser. It is currently my back-up but I love the feel of that putter.

It is a little on the light side so I put some lead tape on the sole

I like my Anser Scottsdale. A little light for me so I only use it when the stroke is of to tune it up a bit.

I've got an older bronze Anser (not the collector one) which I take to the course once/twice

a year. The feel and sound is really nice. I also have an old Eye 2 putter which I haven't

used in probably 10 years. Its down the basement collecting dust - never could make a putt

with it.

I bought new when it was first available the original Ping 1-A, that goes "Ping" when you strike the ball. It's all original still in form. Haven't changed grip, shaft, etc...

I used to be a ping putter nut. I have owned most of the Scottsdale models. I still have a Dale Head, and a ping scottsdale anser

Ping BeCu Anser 4 with a BeCu Zing 2 a reasonable second. My current gamer is a Bettinardi Tour Southpaw BB-18 DASS, along with a BB-18 Tour Southpaw Carbon in triple black, a BB-18 Tour Southpaw DASS with Eurethane insert, an Odyssey Tri-Hot #2 and a Cameron Studio Stainless Newport 2.5 (although it required some weighting to get it playable).

 

There is a pattern here.

Like many others, I have the Anser as a fall-back, but prefer my Yes Callie to it, I also have the Sedona - often overlooked, but a nice putter.

 

The circa 62 model 1 is sweet though.
