Ogio Stand Bags

Recommended Posts

What's the overall perception of the OGIO Ozone Stand Bag? It's time for a new one, and am looking towards this. I have been a PING user throughout highschool and college golf, and am not really impressed with their new line of bags. I like the new red with the crazy white and gray design on it. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I've got the previous year's model and I like it quite a bit. I used to love my old ping hoofer bag (and whatever the version before that was) but the ping bag's from the last couple of year's just aren't as good.

The only strange thing about the Ogio bag for me is the separate divider for each wood. It's probably a good thing to keep the shafts nice, but its not the same as having my 3 woods in the same bag hole thingy.

IMO, there is NO comparison between the Ogio and Ping bags. The Ogio is better in every department. Better club organizing, better legs, better pocket location, metter rain hood, just better...

no comparison...ogio <<<<< PING. Played the Vaporlite for a couple years it was light and the dividers were fine but the stand sucked. If the ground was angled or if it was windy the bag could and would tip over. Switched to the Hoofer and MUCH MUCH Better. Additionally, the hoofer looks 100 times better than the horrible colors of the Ogio.

+1

The stands on ogio bags are terrible.

I own an '09 Ozone and an '09 Vaporlite. The Ozone is as close to the perfect bag for me that I can get. They have changed the stand mechanism to the Arclite legs as mentioned above. They are excellent. The legs snap back nice and sharp and they come in on an angle to avoid your feet and a towel if you hang one on your bag. The Ozone has a top lift handle on the bag which assists when taking the bag off your shoulder and placing it on the ground. All in all, I can't say anything bad about the Ozone, it's a really great bag.

My Vaporlite had the same problem with the legs not retracting easily. I posted a couple months back about a fix for this. I took some 3 in 1 oil and put a drop at the pivot points on both legs. Worked in the oil real good and they now work excellent. No more retraction problems. The issue is they are all plastic contact parts and they are a tight fit, therefore when they are not lubricated they react slowly and don't want to close. Especially in warmer weather when the plastic expands a bit. Put a little oil on the inside and outside contact point of each leg, work it in and you will find it works MUCH better.

Just FYI, I also purchased an Ogio Decibel bag this spring. It's the replacement for the Vaporlite bag. Very sturdy and feature packed bag. Features are much more like the Ozone but without the ball silo or the top lift handle. They have gone to the Arclite leg system on this bag also and it is excellent. It's the best of both now, lightweight of the Vaporlite and the functionality of the Ozone with the great legs and features. I'd suggest checking the Decibel out as well as the price difference is significant and the feature difference is quite minimal.

Good luck!!

That sounds about right odshot68. The Ozone is also about 5.5 lbs and the Decibel is 4 lbs. I carry 14 clubs when in each of them, whichever I take out. I take a dozen or so balls, handfull of tee's, towel, water bottles or gatorade, bug spray, glove and some other little things like divot tools, etc. I can say with the minimum packed in the bag, either bag is a treat to carry. They are both extremely light, as is my Vaporlite. As long as you aren't packing a couple dozen balls and everything except the kitchen sink you shouldn't have any real issues. I'm 6 feet tall and 210 and it's no problem for me to carry any of these. Hope this helps, any other concerns, just post it and we'll help out.

I have an older Ozone and it's been a good bag for me. It's lightweight, has a good pocket design and the top organizes well. Like others, I'll echo the legs are terrible! If Ogio has improved the leg system, I'll have to take another look at them when I'm ready for a new bag. Otherwise, I've been eyeing the Sun Mountain Four 5....

I absolutely love the 2010 Ogio Ozone..........until I need to carry it or extend the legs. Carrying it makes the bag virtually parallel to the ground and the leg system (it's the new one) requires me to set it down and then pulling it backwards so the legs extend all the way....other than these two glaring faults I love the bag to death......unfortunately, these two things may cause me to send it back and swap out for the new Titleist 14 divider stand bag.

Got the Ogio Grom 2010 last week and used it the first time. Overall, I am disappointed with my experience. For $170 and for a specialty golf bag company, I expect nothing but the best. The legs do not extend properly and the strap system is not comfortable. I am going to return the bag this week and get a refund. How difficult can it be to make a great carry bag if we can put a man on the moon!

I had a 2009 ogio ozone that lasted me about 5 months before the bag broke where the shoulder strap met the carry handle. P.O.S. The legs never activated fully unless I nudged them with my foot. IMO, the only good thing about ogios are the woode divider systems. I took mine back in and got a sun mountain 3.5 and Im loving life! MUCH much lighter than the ozone, and Im learning to deal with the club dividers.

wow my 08 Ozone broke at the exact same spot, just out of warranty of course. I thought it was from the weight since I carry many extra clubs in the bag when I go to range.

My 09 Ozone is also breaking in this spot. So far the metal ring is loose and it is slowly ripping. Of course this started to occurred after about 14 months of use. It is annoying since I like everything else about this bag. It looks like I will be in search of a new bag by the end of the year and it won't be an Ogio.

Have an older Ogio bag (3 years old) and the legs are HORRIBLE!! One of the legs broke after a year, which had replaced. Since day one, the legs cross and never fully open, so I have to actually physically kick the legs out with my foot to spread them out. Even I spread them as far as they can go with my hands, a lil hill or wind and the bag is on the ground. The bag is in perfect shape and I am just about ready to replace it cause of the legs! What a disappointment!!

I have an older Ogio Ozone. '07 model, but bought new just over a year ago. I have had the same problems as everyone else witht the stand/legs virtually from the beginning. My right shoulder strap broke at the O-ring that supports both straps in the back. I like the club dividing system, the water bottle holder and the pockets/storage. Also, the rainhood on this model attaches to the bag with looped velcro straps. It's fairly secure but it take some time to get all the straps attached. Not good when it starts to rain and you're fumbling around with the head. Much prefer the typical metal snaps.

I loved my previous Ogio bag. It lasted 5 or 6 years of heavy play and only replaced it due to some friction wear on the hip padding. I don't think I'll go with Ogio anymore. A shame because there is certainly a lot to like on the Ozone. Poor durability and stand system are major negatives that can't really be overcome.
