People can play whatever semantics they want with playing length or measured length or anything in between. She increased the length of her driver and gained significant yardage while choking down.

She plays a 48” driver choked down or not. My driver is 46” if I choke down for any reason it’s still 46” and still plays 46” even if at that point my hands are at 44.5.

So basically you're telling us that the only point is to argue the semantics of a language with someone who doesn't even speak the that language about something that has no importance or usefullness to playability.

I speak and write the language good enough to know what im talking about.

STEP 1 - during fitting is GRIPS. - (use the grip the player is using)
STEP 2 - Find PLAY LENGTH, and pay attention to HOW AND WHERE the player place his hands on the grip.

CORRECT placement of hands is when the upper hand is in contact with, but dont cover the lowest of the 2 white end rings on the grip. (see photo).

Some players "hide" the last piece of grip in their palm, but thats no good for several reason, one of them is that the shaft itself stops 0.25" below the butt end.

Some players does grip down by nature, and during fitting we should set marks on the grip to make sure the ACTUAL Play length is "constant", so its no direct connection between the clubs measured length and ACTUAL play length, this will vary from player to player depending on how the player place his hands on the grip.

When a player tries to educate me about fitting, club tech or terms used, he should show off his credentials.

English is not my native language, but my English is good enough to know what im talking about, and English is only 1 out of 4 languages i read and write on a daily basis, but sure, it has room for improvements....

BACK TO TOPIC
- Players who fits to play "standard" play lengths (#5 iron of 38.00") should use 44.00" as a starting point for driver testing. IF the players irons is 0.5" longer than "standard", we can add the same to the driver. Elite amateur and professional players can use 44.50 (or plus 0.5") as starting point for testing. ONLY players with a natural flat swing plane and way above average eye to hand coordination will be able to take advantage of clubs longer than this, and thats why i never build a driver for GOLF longer than 45.00" since fitting told us that was the breaking point where dispersion starts to suffer.

My friend Lance Reader, founder of Krank Golf and now senior long driver used a 46.00" long driver for LONG DRIVING the last time i heard from him, but long driving aint Golf since we dont have "Mulligans" like they do.

Those who wants to stretch it to the max, should be dead honest to themselves about the numbers of fairways they get with the play length they use, or they are fooling themselves.

A good lay up for the second shot gives a higher potential for a good score than 10 or 15 yards longer out there and a lay up that makes the second shot more demanding, so IMO a good fitted driver is a club where the player gets at least 7 out of 10 shots in the fairway, and at the side of the fairway who makes his 2 shot easy, so even if the driver is a distance club, its useless to make a good score without good dispersion.
