Is the sound off the X460 Tour that bad?

May trade for one and I keep reading how bad the sound is.I have never hit one and don,t know anyone that has one except my wife.She probably doesn,t generate enough speed to notice.Or she is being nice since I bought it for her Mothers Day.I have an Exotic that can make a high sound on occasion when I nut it and I could care less about noise on a good shot.Is the sound as bad as I keep reading?

Personally I liked the one I had, felt very solid and hot off the face, didnt care too much for the shaft. I think it sounds much better than the FT-3, which to me sounds like a dud. PLus the X is way cheaper !!

Since your response is a question to my question= there is a point/limit to everything.The sound from my exotic can occassionally be somewhat loud.From what I hear of the X460 is the consistant complaint of its noise.Just want some feedback from one who plays club.

The sound of the X460 isn't that bad. You'll get the sound to indicate that you've hit it on the screws, and you'll get a different sound for the mishits. I don't think there is any 460cc driver that sounds great. My X460 would be in the bag right now, if I wasn't hitting my Launcher 460 well. :yahoo:

x460 sounds different than what we use to hear ... like taste ... some peole likes and the others don't.

I didn't like its sound the first time I hit mine and I know now that it was because I didn't hit it very well. But this is not a problem for me today ... my x460 is really fine, very long and straight ...

 

The best driver sound I ever hear is Cally BB War Bird !!! I keep mine and will play it in 1, 2 years ... just to hear that fabulous sound !!!

Yes this driver makes noise when you catch it flush, but not in an obnoxious way.

I don't hear much of a sound from any club when I am hitting. I can hear it much better when someone else hits the club. When I hit, I'm not concentrating on the sound.

That and the Cobra...too damn loud and annoying.. couldn't stand it.

I didn't think it was bad and used it for a round--if you can play an entire round with a Cobra driver you're alright!

The noise is loud but the results acheived from this driver are highly impressive and so, to be honest, the sound does not annoy me. Also this is a scary long driver, perhaps longer than my trusty FT-3. :yahoo:

Right now, it's just the original Launcher 460, although I have owned a 460 Comp (didn't get the right loft and shaft combo). If I was picking between the two, I would go for the 460 Comp over the X460, but that's just me. The 460 Comp is a high hitting driver (like most of Cleveland's drivers). I actually hit a 8.5* Launcher 460, because they hit higher. I may trade the X460 in for another Comp (probably late this year or early next). :yahoo:

It sounds a lot like an aluminum bat to me. I don't know if I could play it but if you don't mind the sound a lot of people seem to think it is a good club.

Go hit it somewhere and decide for yourself.

 

That's what I did and it's, by far, the longest driver I've ever hit and don't notice the sound - just how far I hit it.

 

It's now in my bag.
