A true hidden gem in little Marengo. Immaculate condition and greens running at 11. Very reasonably priced($49 w/ cart) and you can walk as well. It is about 40 miles from Lake Geneva and 5 miles or so off I90 W heading towards Rockford--Exit HWY 20.

Played it many times, its a heck of a golf course for sure. Have you played Oak Grove GC in Harvard, IL? Great course and very reasonable because its out in the middle of nowhere, but its definitely worth it.

I played Black Stone a few years ago and really enjoyed it as well as Oak Grove, but I played Oak Grove about 10 times and love it. My new course favorite is Bowes Creek in Elgin. All the range balls and golf are unlimited. We played 54 holes and a few range balls for $59. Nice course and good condition.

Blackstone is a great course, highly recommended! Also just played Oak Grove a couple weeks ago and will def. go back. Bowes had some trouble late this year with greens but they have worked hard to restore them...it also has become one of my favorites. Nice to see a few quality new courses added to Chicagolands already solid lineup!

Bowes Creek is a definite must play in the area. While at it - another Elgin course - Highlands of Elgin is right up there as well. I only wish both were little bit closer to my house...

I played Highlands of Elgin a few weeks ago. Greens had been aerated already, but the course design is great. I'll definitely be heading back there next season.

+1 Blackstone. Love the greens, always in great condition because the course doesn't take a beating like other courses closer to the city/burbs.
