what are you picking?

Just a question for 2 reasons...1) curiosity and 2)where to start looking for a new one.

Is there a driver out that is considered the longest or best among the major brands? If not, which brand do you better players gravitate towards (assuming you are not a rep/sponsored player)?

Before someone says that the best driver is contingent of several factors (i.e. brand preference/dislike, feel, and intangible factors) , the FT TOUR has gotten a lot of attention from many players. Very long, workable and a decent stock shaft (either Voodoo VS6 or Matrix Xcon 5 or 6). The Superfast TP also seems to be quite popular in these forums. I'd say look to TM and Callaway as a solid starting point, although my nod would go to TM for their shaft options (without upcharges).

Id recommend Callaway easy to hit long driver's or Adams which im using just now longest driver ive ever hit by a good bit check out the new 9064 or the 9032 super long clubs, Adams claims an extra 4 mph clubhead speed never tested it but feels like 10mph!

Shaft, head, and grip all need blending to each other and the player for serious distance. Off the shelf drivers are no more than toys.

I have a 7.5 Adams 9032 with the XXX JS HOF shaft 48" and its a monster...I was hitting it 360-380 today on the course, kind of nice getting to the green or over the green in one hit.

What tees? I have not played many 380 yd par 4s in a while. Mostly 400-460 here.

Blue tee's, the golf course name is Tama Hills Golf, its located in Tokyo Japan. They really dont have a lot of room for the 400+ par fours...

Ohhhh boy. Are you gonna have some fun. I really like my Superfast TP. But, I'd try the Nike drivers, especially the SUMO 5900 and DYMO2. Very forgiving and can be had cheap! Long, too. They get no love on these forums though...

I'll give them love !!! Still got my 5900, long straight. i should have NEVER let my Dymo2 str8 go, longer and still straight. The Ftiz works for me but it could not make me forget how good my Dymo2 worked. I am currently giving the MachSpeed str8 a try. Currently down to $149. So far ---- very good. Teh Ftiz may not get another chance.

Cobra L5v & L4v are good.

are you asking for a long driver's driver or a regular one? That would be why you are getting very different answers. Where this is posted you would mostly get xx and up and the drivers are built very different from what it seems you are looking for. I would recomend the equipment forum.



Some of these drivers people are suggesting would simply break in a long drive competition and don't come in a 4-6 degree head . That is more of what this forum here is for.



Now the Graffaloy blue. still popular for a few tour players. Ebay is the best bet. Just buy from a reputable seller.

I play the Ping Rapture V2 9* with the diamana blue board. 90 percent of the time its around 290 with the roll. Best driver I have hit. Callaway FT3 also was a good stick

My first post......

I did a lot of research and hitting of drivers over a couple of weeks to find one that would replace my FT5, I decided on the Adams speedline 10, the reviews were excellent and the actual feel of the club was very nice. The only downfall was the standard Aldila shaft in it but i have since replaced that with a Harrison Saga shaft and i have not hit the ball straighter off the tee in many many years.

I got a SMT Deepbore 455 at 9* off Gamola Golf here in the UK; I added a Graphalloy Prolite 4.0 stiff, new from ebay, and an Iomic Opus Art red and white grip and I have a driver which first off looks spectacularly nice. It also hates the left which means I can aim left and finish middle or right, unless I lose control and then it can be very right. It's long enough and cost £125 ($200).

I have heard good things about some of TM's stuff and the Ft from Callaway. I did a lot of "testing" myself and like everyone says, it comes down to so many factors and your personal swing.....But with that said, I am mashing the Adams 9015 Tech A4 with a highend Matrix Ozik shaft that was custom fit for me.

Just curious, anyone else played this Adams head...I love it and can't figure out why more don't play it.

i like many drivers but i prefer the cobra s2, this is the driver i have in my bag. it is forgiving and very long but at the same time it is workable. it also has the 9 point technology from cobra and it has three different head positions which is very convenient. another good driver is the new titliest 910 drivers which are long and workable.

I happen to like the FT-9 IMIX....started out non-tour draw in a 9...and now 5 heads later i am on a 10.5 tour neutral with a fubuki.

Love it....longest and most forgiving driver i have ever hit.

Maybe the question should be what are looking for in this club. LD? Players cllub? Both?. I've hit(owned) the Adams 9064LD and the Geek FSIII and both are great heads, but the 6.5 or 7.5 heads aren't something I'd play with on a tight course. For playing clubs there's all sorts of options depending on your swing. Just saying a 105mph swing will probably be better suited to a different head than a 130mph swinger and that's where the lab work comes into play. Not to give you a short answer, but you gotta swing the club that works for you and not what someone else is playing with.
