Help Pick Loft for J33R 460

switching from 983K/R5 TP, probably with NV65 or Diamana63
I used to play the 983K in 9.5 with the NV65S which I killed once in a while at a medium trajectory with quite bit of roll. But being a 10 handicap, I needed some more forgiveness to find more fairways off the tee. So I'm going to the J33R after hearing about so many great reviews. The question is, do I need a 10.5 or a 9.5 in the J33R 460? Would it be too low with an NV65S? What about with a Diamana 63S or a 757? Thanks

I have two J33 Bridgestone drivers, with two different set-ups. I am hitting the J33 460, 8.5 with the Diamana 63 x flex. I previously hit the J33 (I think 430ish cc's) 9.5 with NVS 75 x flex, but broke the shaft in about 10 days. I hit the 9.5 setup lower than the 8.5. The J33 460 (according to my guys on the tour van) has a higher launch angle, and is more forgiving in the heel of the golfclub, then the J33. If you are to go with the 460, stick with 9.5, and if you can afford the upcharge, the diamana 63 is a good shaft. Hope this helps

I have the 10.5º in the J33 460. 105-108 ss. Had the V2 75 stiff and it worked well. Just had a Pershing installed, and so far, so good. Nice med/high trajectory with plenty of roll. I didn't care for the NV in this head, it made the setup feel quite harsh. Not so with the other shafts, especially silky is the Pershing.

I have a 9.5 983E for reference, and the J33 460 10.5º has a very similar ballflight. Also, just bought and sold an R5 TP 10.5º/Diamana83 stiff because I ballooned the heck outta it. Not so with the B'stone... :drinks:

I'm leaning towards the NV, Diamana, and the V2-75 because I've had success with those shafts. The NVS and the Proforce felt and played like POS in the 905 series. I really doubt they play much better in the J33R's, in terms of dispersion.

Those are all shafts that I like in the J33R. My favorites were a Diamana 63X and a V2 85 S tipped 2". The NV was good too. I despise the NVS. I like the ProLaunch in this club too actually, that shaft is no slouch when it comes to bang for the buck, as is the V2.

...the j33r spins and launches lower than most heads out there. i have been playin it over a year, and it performs extremely well for a 105 smooth swing. my hard hitting pard around 110+ has a 10.5* as well. the nv (a mid launch shaft) is a great stock shaft for this head imo. i have played 9.5* in most all my drivers, but went to a 10.5* in the j33r. the vs proto, which launches a hair higher than the nv, but with less spin, is the perfect compliment to the 10.5* j33r imo. high launch and low spin that still hits the ground with roll. i have never hit a better combo.
