Goodbye Y-Cutter!

I wanted to get a few rounds and practice sessions in with this wedge before I posted a review, but I feel like I can offer a good review now. I was previously playing a 58* TM TP Y-Cutter wedge. I liked the spin on that club, but it never really impressed me in the feel and control deparment. It was a very good wedge for sure, I just wasn't overwhelmed. I picked up a Tour Sonartec T15 58* a few weeks ago and I'm totally impressed with this club. The look from address is superb, not to mention the feel and spin. Also, did I mention how nice and versatile the grind is? I had a custom grind done on my TP, mainly heel relief, but this Sonartec grind is really great. Easy to open up without increasing the bounce much at all and what I really like is that you can close down the face to hit a little low checker and I don't have any trouble with laying sod over the ball. I ran into that problem with the TP at times, it really wanted to dig on me. I've rambled enough, but I have to admit Sonartec has the best wedge I've played to date. The forged feel is a breath of fresh air, the spin rivals anything I've played(Y-Cutter, SM, TC Vokey,etc.), and the grind is very manageable. You owe it to yourself to give one a try!

How is the finish on these? Simular look to SM vokey's?

That is good to hear JB. I have a Sonartec wedge ready for a go when I get the chance. Mine is retail, but it looks really good.

T15's are the first run (handmade proto's) whereas the T35's are the retail model. For the most part they're very similar.

The T15 also has a raw finish that will rust and possibly a little more aggressive groove. They don't have the milling marks on the face like the retail. I'm sure the retail ones are just about as good, I just prefer the raw finish.

I'm just waiting for the 54/58 lofts...overall fantastic wedge though.

I like to hear reviews comparing these to the TPs.... I really like the spin the produce but, as mentioned, they do lack in the feel department, and it's hard to control distances. I will seriously look into these wedges for next year.

Wedge play is usually the strong point of my game and like you, I liked the spin of the TPs, but struggled a little with distance control, i.e. feel. I really think these spin just as much, but I have much better control with them. Really, give one a try and I know you'll be impressed!
