Hi, i´m again. Me and 2 or 3 friends decided to fly again to USA to play golf, (Arizona, Palms Spings and New Mexico). We played the courses that you can see in my other post in Arizona.
We stay at Arizona for about 10 days and we don´t like -if it´s possible- to repeat the courses.
We go on May of 2014.
At this time that´s my list.
What do you think?

(no ranking order)

1.- Southern Dunes.-
2.- Troon (Monument).-
3.- The Boulders (north).-
4.- Vista Verde.-
5.- Rancho Mana.-
6.- Wirlwind (we don´t know wich is the better Devils or Cattail).-
7.- Quintero.-
8.- Ancala CC.-
9.- Las Sendas.-
10.- Ventana Canyon (Mountain or the other?).-
11.- Hassayampa.- (we know that is private, but we tray to play)
12.- Talking Rock .- (the same at Hassayampa).-
13.- Superstion Mountain (wich is the best?).-
14.- Stone Ridge (we know that we have to drive 1.30 hs).-
15.- Antelope Hills (wich is the best?).-
16.- Grayhawk (bouth but i can´t know wich is the best i think that´s Raptor).-
17.- Papago.-
18 .- TPC (Stadium, we know if it´s expensive but if we can found a good deal).-
19.- Los Caballeros.-
20.- Westin Kierland ( A ot of peoples said that´s not be a greatest golf course, but i never play golf with a stegaway, wich is the best of the 3 coureses? SOmebody know if other courses have a stegaway? Just for play somethingh different but if you tell me that´s not a good idea i can consider).-

WEll, if somebodoy like to makeme a ranking or coment to my list i apreciated and if i need to add other courses or others tips, wich - in my list- is "must play" or no, etc.
We rent a house in Gilbert.-

Thank´s for all, again sorry for me english.

Rancho Manana doesn't belong on that list at all. I personally hate it...it is a short, tight course with not much redeeming quality to it...others may disagree, but it certainly wold not be on my list.

You should add Anthem. If you are going to try and get on courses, try Talking Rock in Prescott, The Rim in Payson even more so.

6.- Wirlwind (we don´t know wich is the better Devils or Cattail).- Both very good; but Devils Claw has a few more interesting holes IMO.

13.- Superstion Mountain (wich is the best?).- Both great courses, but if I had to choose one it would be Lost Gold

Kierland: this would be a big pass for your list - if you do play Acacia and Mesquite are the better 9's. And no, no other courses use the stegaway, that I know of

Have you done Sedona Golf? Oak Creek, Sedona Resort and Seven Canyons

Raven at Verrado and Estrella Mountain - don't recall if you did those on your last trip?

puttnforth8 when you told me Anthem you told me Anthem Country CLub or just the city?
Yes Anthem: It is Private but there are 1 or 2 tee times everyday posted on EZlinks.

On your previous visit, please tell us what you liked and didn't like and why. That might help us make further recommendations.

Of your list, the better courses (in no particular order - favorites are highlighted)
1.- Southern Dunes.-
2.- Troon (Monument).-
3.- The Boulders (north).-
4.- Vista Verde.-
6.- Whiirlwind (either course).-
13.- Superstition Mountain (either course).-
16.- Grayhawk (I like the Raptor better).-
17.- Papago.-
19.- Los Caballeros.

OK choices
7.- Quintero.- (many rave about it but I'm not a big fan)
9.- Las Sendas.- (good scenery, ok golf)
10.- Ventana Canyon (Mountain good, Canyon skip it).
15.- Antelope Hills .- Both courses fun to play in the cooler climate of Prescott, a visit should always include a pub crawl on Whiskey Row!
To be fair, this is a municipal facility - don't expect plush conditioning or top service. North course is the older layout, traditional parkland with great greens.
The South is newer, more of an open links inspired style.
18 .- TPC (not worth the price IMO).-
20.- Westin Kierland

I've played ancala a few times, it's a Pete dye track that definately has some quirks to it, but I found the more I played it, the more enjoyable it became. But I'm still not really a fan of Pete dye courses, at least the ones I've played in AZ.

I really like antelope hills, both courses. I prefer the newer south course, only because the back 9 on the north has like 2 or 3 holes that might as well be te same exact hole.

Stoneridge......hmm. I've played it twice, actually enjoy it, but with an * added for some pretty stupid flaws like hole 9, and the difference from the back tees to one up is like 700 yards haha, and most of it is on the par 3's! But if you're there and can't get on the private ones, why not?

Poston is a good course to play a round at....not the best "course"...it runs through houses and some similar holes. I like it a lot, but you don't come in to town to play it....if that makes sense.

Superstition mountain is private, but they do put times online. Same with Tonto Verde

THanks puttnforthe8!!! WHere can i found this tee times (SUperstion Mountain) in golfnow or ezlinks?
They should put them on Golfnow right around the time you are planning on coming(as it gets hotter). They are not on there right now because this is high season.

At least I assume they will open it back up for some public play this year as they have done in the past. Just keep checking.

I think they played a composite of the two courses, with the Palmer back 9 as their front, and the Faldo back 9 as their back.

I booked a time on May 18th @ Faldo for ~$55, seems like a good value.

I might piggy back on your thread here a bit as I'll be out there with some buddies from May17-20

Tentative Sched
Sat: Arrive - DBacks/Dodgers game
Sun: 10am @ Wildfire Faldo
Mon: We-Ko-Pa 36 holes
Tue: 36?, taking the red-eye home back to NJ

This trip can't come soon enough, haven't played since October with this awful winter.

NO...it is not a "great" course. They are average courses with some good holes and some bad holes and some okay holes.

The tourney is played on 9 holes from each course.

The better course is the Palmer Course in my opinion.

Let's put it this way, I don't go out of my way to play the courses unless there is a really good deal. And by good deal, $25-30 in the summer months. I would never pay the rates they are asking now.

On top of this, the customer service has always been very bad when I have been there, especially the pro shop and restaurant.

So bottom line, if you get a really good deal, then go ahead an play it....like I said, there are some good holes.
