Would the 5.5 be considered a stiff or a regular?
Does it matter ? In general S flex is 95 to 105, but what is S flex ?
As the others say, they are from low 90 to just above 100, so in this terms it would be a R+ or FIRM as it was called. PX Graphite is o.25 softer than PX steel, so compared a PX 5.5 Graphite is equal to PX 5.25 steel if that shaft was available, but PX 5.5 falls a bit softer than the others, so direct compare is PX 5.0

Would you say then that a "firm" flex such as the 5.5 would suit maybe 90-100 ss? I know everything is all relative to a swing, but wondering what one would think

As i started with, does it matter?
- Please dont get hung up in those labels, what ever they are, because they tells you nothing else than where this very shaft belong in its own family of shafts. A Project X 5.5 is softer than a Project X 6.0, just like a Graffalloy PL Red S is stiffer than PL Red R, but non of them represent a "standard" for their labels. If you got a Graffaloy Boyaah at hand, it must be X flex to be compared to PL Red R flex, so forget labels, and read what other tells you. The shaft in this case PX 5.5 Graphite works well for players between 92 to just above 100 mph club speed, and that means force full swings at 90, or smoother swings in the 100 area, or a medium aggressive swing in the 95 area, and they are right.

My swingspeed is 104-106 and I love the feel of the PX 5.5 in my Ping Rapture. I have been using the 10.5* Rapture since it came out 6-7 years ago and have always had a couple of heads to try out new shafts. Heard good things about the PX and it kicked both the Blueboard and the Ozik HD6 out of my bag. I don't think it is too whippy for my swingspeed at all. I find it easy to load, very smooth-feeling and easy to control through impact.

Don't get caught up in manufacturer recommendations. It obviously gets expensive to just try shafts on a whim, but if you can find combos at a demo day with the PX shaft and other shafts that you are familiar with, you can figure out if the shaft has a chance to fit your swing.

I have it in a newly purchased Razr Fit Extreme Tour Authentic 5.5 and noticed it does bomb, but goes very high compared to say a Motore F1.

Looking forward to comparing it to a Miyasaki Black and a B.Asha.

I have a 5.5 and a 6.0, my swing speed is 110-115 and have had no trouble controlling the softer 5.5, although I do prefer the 6. Best combo I have ever tried was the 7c3 with a 910 D2, I've never felt anything better to this day.

My SS is about 105 with a driver and I put a 5.5 tipped .75" in my G25. Unreal combo. It knocked a lot of spin off the ball and but still felt like I could load the shaft fairly easily. Been extremely pleased with the results.

I need some advice. Was at a golf store and surprisingly hit a mizuno jpx ez 9.5 better the others I tried. Loved the sound and feel but spin rate was 3500+ with the stock 55 gram shaft. My SS is 97-100 with an aggressive quick downswing. Fitter watching said I need a heavier shaft. Would the specs of the 5.5 suit me? Got a shot at getting this driver with the 5.5 but I wanted some feedback before pulling the trigger. Thanks.

The shaft itself is a large contributor of feel, so that feel you got using another shaft, does not have to be close to what it feels like with a PX 5.5. You will have to start all over, by finding shaft weight first, then try different heads, with different shafts in that weight range.

The ones in question are the "made for" nike px shafts. In my vr pro. Had a 6.0, never could get anything but straight or fade, ordered a 5.5 to try . swinging around 95 with smooth transition
The PX Blue 5.5 that was stock in my VR Tour is not a "made for" shaft. That shaft/head combo is one of the best ever.

I was fitted into the 5.5 PXv that came stock in the Callaway XHP. I have a Razr Fit head and I just picked up a Razr Fit Extreme
head. I ordered a PX Black 5.5 to try in those heads. I also saw in another review thread where the reviewer ended up replacing the
GD DI he had in his Razr Fit with the PX Black. Sounds promising.
