Ever have any re-shaft regrets... ever?

Hey there you shaft hos...

Have you ever re-shafted for no particular reason, well, for the reason of wanting to try a new shaft with the expectation to hit it 10 yards further.. only to regret it afterwards and think... "What was I thinking?"

Well.. I'm at a bit of a crossroads right now.

I'm having good success with the FT-3 Tour w/ the VS Proto 70 stiff... but it hasn't been like jaw-dropping or anything. I had jaw dropping experience with the FT-3 Tour w/ the NVS 65 stiff... that combo was crazy long! And I figured it would only get better with the VS Proto. Man, I literally hit the longest drives of my life with the NVS combo... but every now and then, I might get a hook... so I thought I'd be able to get rid of that occasional hook, and be in golfing Nirvana.

Well... that hasn't really happened yet. It's hard to explain... but I have yet to get the same results with the VS Proto 70 that I had with the NVS. Although I will say that I tend to think I'm in the short grass maybe a bit more often... but I feel like I have a little bit of re-shafter's remorse on this one.

Why?? Why?? Why can't I leave "well enough" alone??!!

Of course, I could be singing a different tune after I play today and pound the crap out of the ball.. but we'll see.

Anwyays... anyone else have any "sad" experiences...

I used to play a 757 S and hit it loooong with a touch of fade. Shaft crcked, instead of getting a 757 all over again and in the search for more distance I switched to a Fuji Six. I have never been able to hit the ball the same.

My swing slowly changed from a purely body swing to a trap-sway-flip the hands swing. Good thing my putting has tremendously improved that is the only way my handicap stayed the same.

I'm now too out of shape to switch back to the body swing.

All the time. The lastest regret was buying my FT-3 with the Prolaunch instead of the NVS. I ended up reshafting with the true NVS and couldn't be happier. You're right about hitting bombs with this shaft. :cheesy:

Yes, I've had two mistakes now on my 460 Comp. First I got the NVS and hated it. Too whippy. Then, because of a prior great experience with Harrison shafts, I decided to try the Mugen. At first I liked it and even posted as much. But as I've played it for the last 5-6 months, I've come to realize its too light, and hits too high.

Now I'm considering a 70g V2. We'll see.

I sold a club that was close to perfect for me, then regreted the decision when its replacement was not near as good. I then tried to recreate the club I sold to no avail, even with the same shaft and head. I have finally found a suitable replacement, but it took about six different shafts to get here. All in all the new club is better, but in hindsight, I would have stuck with the old if I had known what a PIA it was going to be to find a replacement.
